Mass Transit to the United Center

Parking is fine by UC otherwise take an uber/lyft. I live close by and mass transit has sucked lately.

Kaiser Tiger is another solid spot by the stadium with indoor and outdoor seating.

West Loop/West Town is 5-10 min uber away and has tons of bars/resturants plus parking via Spot Hero.

Son doesn’t think busses run that late and all trains don’t run after certain hours. Late trains are rather sketchy.
Last green line train toward downtown runs leaves Damen at around 1:22AM. https://www.transitchicago.com/assets/1/6/greentt_damen.pdf
Blue line is a pretty short walk south and runs 24/7.

There will be a CTA shuttle downtown after the game regardless of when it ends, and the Madison and Ashland busses are 24/7. https://www.transitchicago.com/bus/19/

I generally prefer the bus once it starts getting late since you have fewer people camping on them and the driver is in the same car as you so people tend to behave more. The 12:something trains won't be too bad, and it isn't really dangerous late at night, but definitely a bit more sketchy and uncomfortable.

There is a bus you can take from Rockford to downtown Chicago for 50ish dollars round-trip. Runs on the hour until I think midnight. I've only ever gotten off/ on at O'Hare, so I can't attest as to where exactly it drops off/ picks up downtown

If you get to OTC or Union metra, the 20 bus runs along Madison straight to United Center every 10-15 minutes.

As someone who drove CTA buses in the 80's to pay for grad school, if you want to have an "authentic" Chicago experience from River North:

Take the #66 Chicago Avenue bus west to Damen Avenue, then transfer to the #50 Damen Avenue bus south to Madison Ave.

Or take the #22 Clark Street bus south (or any Michigan Avenue bus), then take the #20 Madison Avenue bus west to the United Center.

For the record, I do not recommend this for 99% of the people in Iowa that I know. Just take Uber.

There really isn't a good option from the burbs. Metra to CTA to a bus. If you book ahead, If you have a car, look into buying parking ahead of time. I've always been able to get it in a lot right next to the UC. Personally, that time of night, I'd take Metra in and Uber from there.

IF parking isn't an option, hopefully someone else can give you more specifics, like I said, I always just drive to the UC.
Back when I lived there, the traffic from the western burbs on the Eisenhower to downtown was brutal even/esp on a Friday night. Point being - unless it’s changed, avoiding driving. Use the Metra if at all possible.

Last UP West line metra (train) on Friday from Ogilivie leaves @ 12:40AM. This line runs directly west from the loop so places like Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton. Where are you leaving from?

Just went to a sold out Blackhawks game on St. Patrick's day. We took an Uber from downtown by the Trump tower. It was pretty easy with the Uber lot that they have across the street from the UC.
