Totally going to try and avoid reading this read as I haven’t seen Dr Stange yet. But I just finished Eternals finally. Holy balls. I dig that. Crammed as hell but that’s a good movie. Do I need spoilers to ask questions about it or are we past that for Eternals?

While this thread does a really good job avoiding spoilers on recent movies, which is good, I think it is safe to say spoiler talk for The Eternals is fair game at this point.

I’m going to sit Echo and She-Hulk out I think. Not sure why they thought the echo series was a good idea, she didn’t even seem henchman level strong in Hawkeye. The rumors about She-Hulk combined with this trailer seemingly confirming them is enough for me to at least wait until the entire series is out.

Marvel seems to be in overdrive introducing new characters and shoehorning them into established properties. They really need to sit back and ask themselves if the character even deserves to be put in the MCU .

Many hated Eternals but I thought it was the best of the Marvel movies and it really isn't close
Yeah, I guess I don’t get the hate for it but to each their own. There are some pieces of the story line I just don’t get why they did what they did and maybe they put too much in there but I still enjoyed it. Couple questions:

Who is the character they introduced in the extra credit scene? Is that dude bad or good?

Why did the one guy that can shoot stuff from his fingers just leave before the final “battle” and not even come back for it? That seemed weird.

Who is the guy that started to introduce himself at the very end before that chick and the others got sucked into outer space and told about a final judgment for earth?

The whole demon things they were tangentially fighting. I thought they were gonna actually be good guys or something. Then the one got sliced up. This was weird to me too.

In Kevin we trust but I think the TV shows have seriously diluted the brand. I've enjoyed them for the most part, but they are basically just fine. Something from the MCU used to be a huge deal. I haven't seen Dr. Strange 2 yet but I honestly probably won't go to the theater to watch it. It just doesn't seem to be a big deal.

I think this is weird in that the Star Wars TV shows, and basically Mando are basically keeping that brand alive. But there are currently a lot less of them.

Yeah, but even over there, I thought Book of Boba Fett was a major step back and killed momentum there too. However, I'm truly a believer in Obi-Wan being the best Star Wars anything we have had in ages. Now, I could be wrong too.

I agree but even Boba Fett was basically a Mando show and that was one of them. We've had 6 MCU TV shows, and again, I didn't hate them but I could take or leave any of them. I look at what they have coming and it's basically a bunch of blah. I literally don't care to watch any of them. They need to be really careful here.

Eros, brother of Thanos … in the comics at least. Not sure if he’s meant to be Thanos’ brother in the MCU.

I’d have to rewatch this to remember what you’re talking about.

I’m assuming you mean Dane Whitman (or Black Knight)? There was also another post credits scene teasing the Ebon Blade and then you hear the voice of Mahershala Ali’s version of Blade, so I assume that this stinger is a teaser for his new Blade film.

Pour one out for Agents of SHIELD getting totally ignored by the MCU after Winter Soldier. I really enjoyed AoS, thought it was a good show with lots of neat ideas (and some pretty goofy misses).

Maybe that’s just because I’m a huge Clark Gregg fan, I don’t know. #CoulsonLives #TahitiIsAMagicalPlace

Call me wrong, but I am sensing some Marvel Superhero fatigue setting in on here, which I'm not totally shocked at. What have I said all along? As long as Marvel keeps producing really good content, it will continue to stave off the fatigue. However, if we start to see that quality slump a bit, that is when you will start to see it set in. I wouldn't even say Marvel Studios is producing bad content right now, but like many have stated on here, most all the MCU Disney+ content is a step back from what most were likely expecting. I sense more indifference than I do dislike of the Disney+ content, and I'd be lying if I didn't somewhat share those feelings. The good news is that I don't necessarily think we are at the point of no return here, but things need to start picking back up again. Trouble is that on the streaming front, our next 2 projects are Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk, and I'm sorry, neither one is looking like Obi-Wan does, and Marvel needs an Obi-Wan.

Thor is going to be massive IMO. With how good/funny Ragnarok was, my expectations are pretty big. Add on the guardians and I think people will get excited again

Yeah I definitely sense some fatigue in here. I kinda wish Marvel maybe slowed down with new content but tried to increase quality. I think that would be better for long term viability. But I'm sure there is tons of pressure to squeeze out all the $.

The TV shows have been a step down in quality overall. As someone who likes getting one episode a week and will watch all things Marvel I can't say an Echo series gets me too excited. I was more excited for She Hulk but can't say that trailer did a lot for me. We will see though! I'm definitely more excited for Obi Wan and more Mando

I feel like Echo is gonna be a BOBF type of show where they use it to re-estabish Kingpin/DD properly from their Netflix series. I didn't mind her character, felt it kind of fit as the most superpowered people in Hawkeye was Clint/Kate being really accurate. Everyone else was within the realistic strength of regular humans.

Yes, both Thor and Guardians are Marvel's greatest hope of staving off the fatigue. Both are looking very promising right now.

The streaming world of the MCU is in a weird phase right now of trying to shove all these new, lesser-known heroes down our throats before we get more into the age again of the more known and more anticipated ones like Blade, Daredevil, Deadpool and the X-Men. With how things are going, I hope they somewhat fast-track things to get into all those characters everyone can get behind.

They tried to maintain a connection to the MCU with references here and there. The AoS team were the ones that got the helicarrier out of mothballs for them to use in Age of Ultron and during the final episodes of season 5, the ships landing in New York during the events of Infinity War were shown on a screen in the background. Ultimately though the decision to never reveal to the MCU heroes that Coulson was brought back to life more or less created a permanent wall between the two.

Yeah they could definitely use a couple more heavy hitters. John Krasinski as Reed Richards would definitely be one.

Wow, I just watched the She-Hulk trailer and I don't share the hate that everyone else does. I actually got more pumped to see it. Now my wife and I watched all of Orphan Black and Tatiana Maslany is an amazing actress in that series and it was exciting to see her on the screen again. Maybe that is why I overlooked some of the negatives everyone else is seeing.

The line in the trailer that she didn't want to be a superhero because they are all narcissists, billionaires, or I guess adult orphans was pretty funny. I was trying to figure out which superhero was each and missed the obvious joke to us Orphan Black fans that she was in fact an adult orphan.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about this show and like that Ruffalo's Hulk is in it as well.

It's mediocre content fatigue. Nobody was like, oh man I think I'm all superhero'd out after No Way Home. People loved that movie.

People loved action movies in the 80s and 90s. But let me tell you there were a lot of Wal Mart Bargain Bin action movies produced. And Marvel should not let that be happening with their properties at all. Marvel has trust when it comes to a level of quality the same way Disney does with their animated features.

I'm willing to give them a bit of a pass on some things because COVID messed up production schedules and everything so massively that things like Dr. Strange 2 were almost guaranteed to be a mediocre offering. But if they keep on churning out stuff like Moon Knight, we might have a problem on our hands. And again, I didn't hate Moon Knight, it's just not nothing I'm dying for the next iteration of.

Don't forget Fitz and Simmons doing the clean-up in London after the final battle in Thor: The Dark World
