Saw Thunderbolts yesterday. It was...fine?

Not exactly heart stopping but interesting enough.

More of a Guardians feel with the backstories.

Did it kind of just feel like a feature length prologue to you also? Like we get the team together but then the credits roll before anything big happens.

We are doing a re-watch of Daredevil before we watch the new season. I actually really liked The Defenders team up episodes. I'm selfishly hoping for more of that.

I dunno bout this one. I may give it a chance just for marvel watching continuity, but it looks kind of bad.

I hope they have some backstory for Riri. Just not engaged with her character yet. Would have rather them have her shadow Tony Stark and boomed from there. For me, she was an eyeroll player in Wakanda Forever and really should have been introduced elsewhere and in a different way so she could stand on her own.

Who cares anymore though. This comes down to real people who watch these things. And lately a lot of those real people are starting to struggle with the content and writing. I hope Im wrong with this one, I really do.

I agree that I thought her introduction in Wakanda Forever was pretty terrible. It felt like a shoehorned way to introduce her character and hasn't won me over to caring at all for her character, which also hasn't made me excited for this series. I hope it is good enough to change my mind, but I'm skeptical. The hood is also an interesting choice to be her villain. We'll see how it plays out.

Count me as unsure and in the middle of you two. Not sure what to think.
I don’t know if I think it will be bad or good. But The story line just doesn’t grab me enough to make me very interested.

I’m shocked at the lack of Thunderbolts talk on here. I really enjoyed it.
I liked it. Didnt love it, but it was fun to see in theaters. Did feel a bit like a re-introduction movie, but it was fun and different. Interested in where they go from here.

I enjoyed it.

Some have compared it to Guardians with the flawed hero aspect, which isn't totally off base, but I don't quite see it as a direct comp. The Guardians all had family issues that led them to finding a new family in each other while also saving the day.

The Thunderbolts* are all broken people. They were the replacements for better heroes, the forgotten, the unwanted. They had fallen so far from grace that they signed on with a person that has them doing the worst things just to have some sort of chance at redemption. There's a lot of deep mental health moments in this movie that it's hard to empathize unless you've ever felt they way they do.

The action was fine, the place in the grand scheme of the MCU is going to be a bridge to the next thing, but much like the whole Guardians trilogy and IM3, seeing people fight to not be defined by their traumas is every bit as heroic as defeating alien invaders or a super robot.

I enjoyed Thunderbolts but didn't absolutely love it mainly due to the unconventional route they went with third act, not that it was a bad choice. Something I've just never enjoyed was when series play out a certain part of series or movies in people's minds. I get why they do it, but it just never entertains me enough personally. I find myself always annoyed and waiting to get back to the real world. Anyway, that is just me.

With that said, outside of my own preferences, I get why they went that route in the third act and I think the movie had some of the best MCU writing we've seen in years, so I consider it a win. It just won't ever find its way to my top 5 or top 10 MCU list.

So my wife and I have been out on the MCU since the terrible Secret Invasion so I was surprised when she wanted to go see Thunderbolts. She had heard it was good and I agree. Best MCU project since WandaVision IMO. The story is great and is relatable to everyone which is what made the original Ironman so good at the start of this thing.

Since seeing Thunderbolts, we’ve gone back and are watching what’s come out since Secret Invasion. The Marvels was bad. Really bad. I had low expectations for Deadpool 3 and was very pleasantly surprised. Started Agatha All Along last night and I ended up staying up until 1:30 to finish it. I love it but I loved WandaVision and did not see any of the twists coming.

Gonna watch Daredevil and Captain America next. I have low expectations for these but I’ve been pleasantly surprised and we are planning to go see F4

Captain America was bad. The constant rewrites and all that crap made it feel choppy and half assed. Daredevil was good. Looking forward to season 2.
