Man Crush

I Being President of a Rotary club has been an experience. So I presume that being in an even larger leadership role in a service organization would be energizing. Although, I might not know the names of many of the leaders of service organizations, I would have a bigger "man crush" on them, than some movie actor, professional sports athlete, etc.

Good plug for Rotary fellow Rotarian...Yes it is a very worthy group that does a lot of good.

I don't understand the fascination with movie actors. Most of those guys are incredibly vain, have been married numerous times, and just don't have what I would consider an appealing lifestyle (and I'm including Brad Pitt).

I would rather live the life of an adventurer/explorer. Examples that come to mind are guys like Andrew Skurka, Rob Gauntlett, etc.

Other than wanting to be an adventurer/explorer, I get tremendous satisfaction from giving. Being President of a Rotary club has been an experience. I was kind of hoping someone would say this. I have a couple personal heroes that would qualify for the "man-crush" but none of you have heard of them, and most likely never will.

First of all, thanks for asking. Three men come to mind:

povertygrover.jpg

Grover Cleveland - Those dreamy eyes, full mustache and come hither look would make anyone melt.

Shane-McGowan.jpg

Shane MacGowen (The Pogues) - The unkempt look, deplorable hygiene and outlandish antics take bad boy attraction to a new level.

Conway Twitty - Deny it if you will, but you know you want to run your fingers through that hair.

My more up-to-date pick has to be Daniel Craig. The day after I decided to lose my 70+ pounds, MrsPhaedrus and I went to a theater and watched his first James Bond movie. At the end of it, I remarked that I wanted to be built just like him, when I was finished losing blubber.

I'm sure MrsPhaedrus kind of wondered what kind of stuff I was on at the time, but I believe I got the job done.

Frankly, the dude has no individual feature that doesn't scream "car wreck". But put all together on him, and he is pure cat-nip....

And speaking of cat-nip, you know that "women flocking" thing? I don't think it has as much to do with pure physical appearance as it has to do with confidence and attitude. Reason I say that, is that I've been universally ignored on some occasions, and I've induced them to walk into walls and fall all over themselves in others.

The thing is... I HATE that. When MrsPhaedrus reads this, she is going to laugh, because she knows how uncomfortable female attention (especially from females I don't know), in general, makes me feel.

If you haven't already, watch "Layer Cake." Better than the Bond movies.

My hetero-man crush is vintage Clint Eastwood.

Will Smith = Manly. With a capital "M"

I caught three minutes of "Hitch" and have to respectfully disagree. I love "Fresh Prince," but I don't see him as a guy's guy.

Read an interview with him a while back that would change your mind. Can't remember what magazine it was in, but the guy is incredible and has the work ethic that most can only dream of.
