Couldn’t they make the same container and just slap a label on the side that says “2.5 servings”?
Or just make smaller cans so the same volume of liquid gives you the same high.

This bill seems like it won’t hurt the local hemp industry much, but it lets these dorks think they’re keeping people from getting high.

Most other states are looking at full legalization while Iowa is restricting hemp-based THC to 4mg per serving. This place really sucks a lot of the time.
Elections have consequences. 48% want to turn this state into a Puritan society while the rest of us 46% have to suffer.

If this passes (it will), Lua has to rework 2/3 of their drinks and Barntown has to rework 100% of their drinks. That’s not easy to do on a whim.

They don’t need to do anything but repackage them.

That doesn’t happen overnight, but it’s not a matter of new equipment, processes, or recipes. Just smaller cans.

Obviously this legislation is idiotic. However, they’re avoiding what they initially feared.

It is so ridiculously stupid, it is hard to fathom, really.

Don’t drink climbing kites but I buy gummies. Does this bill essentially make them illegal? 10 mg per container I assume also applies to bags? Well time to buy a ton of bags of space gods.

I presume if this passes it won’t go into effect before July 1, so plenty of time to liquidate existing inventory. But man, how stupid.

Is there a place where people can deposit their empty containers, bags, carts, etc.? Once there’s sufficient volume the piles could be shipped to Mr. Holt and Mr. Zaun.

No. They’ll just be individually wrapped. Still legal but they have to change packaging.

It’s the THC equivalent of how in some states gas stations have to sell 3.2 beer

But does anyone in Iowa manufacture gummies? I’ve seen some individual gummies around here but I don’t think they were under 4mg. Don’t know if anyone out of state is gonna make special ones just to comply with our obscure law. Hopefully someone will try to capitalize and fill the market space.

Haha that would be great. Steve Holt (STEVE HOLT!) wakes up to find a giant piñata head stuffed with old weed packaging in his bed.

That would actually be kind of cool if someone in state started making gummies to meet that limit.

But to go back to the 3.2 beer thing, all the big breweries make 3.2 beer even though there aren’t many states that require it. Anheuser Busch specially label beer for Texas. When it’s just a matter of packaging, someone will see the opportunity to sell vice.

I love how the alcohol lobby gets blamed when it’s breweries making these products. Most alcohol manufacturers see opportunity in making THC products.

This is about old ass holes who can’t stand the idea of people getting high. Period.
Mostly this in Iowa but at the federal level I’d say big pharma also has an interest in keeping it illegal.

I'm actually surprised at how lopsided this vote was with 61% of democrat vote siding with the bill as well.
Idk… it needed some sort of regulation. And any compromise with the majority is going to skew in the majorities favor.
