What's the best place around here to locate a beer that's not generally in stock? I've checked Hy-Vee (east) and they didn't have it. Admittedly my search was pretty narrow. I'm specifically looking for a beer called Grimbergen Dubbel.

First of all Cyclone Liquors in Ames (across the parking lot). The back room section. Second of all in Iowa you might want to check with State Distribution Agency to see if they even allow that one to be distributed.

Good topic. Does anyone know of a store that carries this brand?

See, I'm sort of on a quest to destroy every bottle of the stuff on this side of the Atlantic. (bad childhood experience. I won't go into it.) Anyway, if anyone sees some, will you shoot me a pm?

Give Beer Crazy in Urbandale a call. If they do not have it in stock they should have a good idea on how to procure it.

Did you ask your Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits manager if he could get it for you? I like to order Unibroue | La Fin du Monde and they (West Lakes Hy-Vee) used to not carry it, but after special requesting it a couple of times, they just started to carry it. Most Wine and Spirit Managers are usually helpful in locating things they don't carry. Never hurts to ask.

Good Luck.

I suppose I should see if Iowa even distributes it. I had this beer in Chicago after a Cubs game, maybe they don't even sell it in Iowa.

I took the top 20 from beer advocate.com to my local hy vee and came up dry a while ago. They did have several unibroue selections, I bought a sampler 6 pack. They do have some tasty brews.

well I asked the guy at Beer Crazy and he said they don't have a distributor for the Des Moines area. bummer.

Sheng Yuen off Merle Hay Rd in Des Moines has a lot of foriegn stuff.
