Also, Dante had a good start by majoring a kid that beat Gabe M. last year. I know Gabe wasn't good last year but this kid had a winning record as WVU starter last season.

I think this is the first time we've seen Dante on the mat (in a competition) in about two years, and for sure a good sign that he wallops a WV starter.

Tried compiling next round matchups on the frontside. Included some notes I thought were relevant.

Marmolejo vs. #17 Brock Hudkins from NIU.

Simmons vs. Kris Hudson from OU (unattached). DNP’d in both opens this season.

Parker vs. Parrett from Cumberland.

Storr vs. Leach from SIUE.

Degen vs. Davion Jeffries, the 1 seed and #15. NQ last year.

Dante vs. Krischke from Maryville. Second place at the Maryville open.

Straw vs. Barnes from Missouri Valley.

DiBlasi vs. Strope from McKendree. Got 5th at D-2’s last year.

Pestano vs. Shewan from SIUE. Beat him 14-7 two weeks ago.

Colbray vs. Dulaney from SIUE. Won the Cyclone Open and beat Evan Hansen from GV.

Gremmel vs. Blake Andrews from Okie St.

Harrington vs. Jiovennetta from Missouri. Lost to Helton 3 times last year, who Harrington beat earlier.

Allison vs. Dryden, a 2x Kansas state champion.

Leisure vs. Remilliard from Cumberland, I think.

Coleman vs. Howse from Ellsworth.

Southard vs. Brit Wilson, who majored Mac at the Cyclone Open.

Marmolejo lost 3-2 in OT. Encouraging showing for him there after being out for a while. Hudkins is a solid wrestler.

Football game is on and my computer is dying, I probably won't be able to provide very many updates anymore. Maybe at halftime.

Couple really good matches to see where our guys are at. Storr has a ranked guy, Harrington has a national qualifier, Degen vs. Dante, Simmons gets #9.

Should be a very informative round of wrestling, and hopefully a fun one too!

Marmolejo wins 5-3, is going to get Zeke Moisey next. Moisey is a WVU guy, who can be anything from a NCAA runner-up to a guy who hardly looks like a Big 12 starter. We'll see which one shows up. But a good showing by Jon nonetheless.
