Lindell Wigginton

Watched some highlights from Oak Hill's first game. There are a couple of decent highlights of Lindell in there. I wish we could get one of Oak Hill's bigs. Makes me sick that Billy Preston (23) chose KU the other day. He is a heck of a forward. This team is really good.

Here is a few from last week as well. Lindell had a few nice dunks.

For such a big time program, why do they play in such a rinky dink gym?

I just found out that Oak Hill is playing a game close to me in New Castle, IN. If anyone is in the area, these should be great games. New Castle HS has the largest high school gym in the U.S. (9325 seats).

Thursday, December 15

No. 18 New Albany (Ind.) vs. No. 1 La Lumiere (Ind.)
7 p.m. on ESPN or ESPN2 from New Castle High School, New Castle, Ind.

No. 3 Sierra Canyon (Calif.) vs. No. 2 Oak Hill (Va.)
9 p.m. on ESPN or ESPN2 from New Castle High School, New Castle, Ind

Madison Wise's high school team also plays in a Classic at the New Castle Fieldhouse on Dec. 29th.

The Fieldhouse is a great place to watch games.

I am not sure. I know it is in the middle of nowhere. I have driven in the vicinity of that area when I go see my sister in North Carolina and it is a beautiful area, but remote. That is the only reason I can think of. I think kids go there to work on their grades and basketball skills.

Here are some more Oak Hill highlights from a few weeks ago. I would love to get one of their big man from 2018 class.

Pretty much every prep school is like this. Findlay Prep in Las Vegas has a gym with barely an seating as well. Prep schools are a weird deal, man, everyone is there because they are trying to be the best they can be at their craft, but it seems they play in crap facilities until the national tournaments. Maybe they get some money for winning the national title, but if they're making improvements it is to the things we cant see like weight room, travel, jerseys, etc.

Plus, Oak Hill only has 150 students, thats grades 8-12. They don't really have a close alumni base, so there is really no reason for a small school with little fan following to have a large gym. I'm not even sure they play any schools that are close to them that would draw a visiting crowd..

Yeah, prep schools' focus is not on the flashy things like a college. It is for the advancement of student athletes/artist/academics whatever to focus heavily on their specific craft and getting you to college. 150 students grades 8-12 and I bet close to a quarter, if not more, of them are there for athletics solely. Well and keeping their grades up for the Clearing House. It's like those parents who sent their kids to a private school because they thought the public school would give them less of a chance to be successful, but even more selective.

All you have to do is look at the past 20 years to find comparables left and right. Jacy Holloway, Zack Fortune, Corey McIntosh, Farnold Degand, Dom Buckley, Chris the savior Colvin, Clanton.

Seriously, the only person I can think of is Blalock.
Dodie Dunson played some point.
