Lindell Wigginton

Lindell looks to fully taken the leadership role at Oak Hill this year. Considering the talent on that team that look to him to make the plays in crunch time is a very promising trait. Especially translating to a significant role and production next year at ISU as a freshman.
I was al little skeptical of his coach's opinion about AA consideration when Lindell comitted. Wigginton keeps these types of performances up there is a real possibility he will get that McDonald's AA nod.

The biggest difference between Lindell and the rest of his teammates is his consistency. He will almost always "get his", but not because he is selfish with the ball, but rather he's efficient. He plays within his ability and doesn't showboat. His a gritty kid that obviously has a very high basketball IQ. He's a rare talent especially for a school like ISU.

Not sure if anyone else noticed but Lindell took offense to a tweet by Jerry Meyer not viewing him as a 5 Star.

Meyer Posted a reaction on 247 to clarify. (Or backtrack)

I'll admit i like LW took it personally and looking to use it as motivation.
That tweet by Jerry was so dumb. "If he was taller, faster, stronger, more dynamic, better etc. he would probably be a 5 star" Good journo skills there Jerry by having a attributing factor being him not being better, no surprise there, pretty amazing when he is the MVP of his prep team that has 6 division 1 players and he isn't even supposed to be the top guard... So the only thing holding him back is genetics and he can't be a 5-star in his current body. Better pack it up and call it a day.

Meyer is an idiot. He made it sound like Wigginton sucks. He should have said what he said the second time which was he is underrated and will be upgraded but don't see him as a 5 star yet because of xyz.

Agreed, his clarification is much better. But I thought tweeting at him in the first place was a bit questionable. But, I guess Lindell could have liked seeing Iowa State fans sticking up for him

It will be interesting to see how next year's team performs = young and talented on the perimeter, with ?? at the 4-5. I hope they exceed expectations, we're due if this year's team continues to struggle with our senior laden backcourt and questionable 4-5 play.

I think most all are in agreement that next year is going to be "up-in-in-the-air" until we have our freshman on campus and see how our returning players develop the rest of the year. I expect to see a regression but would still be upset if we weren't able to make the NCAA Tourney.

I'll be happy if the team shows a serious potential to make waves in the coming years, whether they make the tournament or not. No real tourney expectations per se, but I think it's possible as kids tend to come in more prepared than they used to. It will also be our first taste (IMO) of what a Steve Prohm team really looks like (in infant form).

Prepare to be upset then unless we pick up a big time big man transfer - juco or otherwise.

Kasongo/Lard/??

That just isn't a NCAA tournament team. But it is a team with a lot of youth and potential for upcoming years.

Agreed, although I understand that there will be a lapse, for some reason I am more excited for next years team (already) than most in the past. Maybe it is because I really like the players we have coming in, or because it is the first year of true uncertainty, either way I am excited to see what the future holds

That's probably the best comparison I've seen on here. Williams was extremely explosive, good enough shooter off the dribble to always be a threat, but loved attacking the rim. Wiggington might have a bit more size?

You'd have to be kind of an old timer but he reminds me of a smaller JR Rider, explosive athlete that attacks, almost playing downhill but has the body control to finish at the rim or draw fouls, a little D Wade-ish. We haven't had a guy who could get the FT a ton lately, I think he's the type of guy who's going to live on the line.

Honestly, I'm more excited about next year than the remainder of 2017.

Back-court looks more like a reload than a rebuild.
Plus we add length w/ Lewis that we've been missing.

I have no reason to believe Young in year two and Lard in one.five aren't a substantial upgrade from our current front-court.

I really appreciate how Prohm doesn't rush to fill his class.
2017 really only needs a grad transfer post a little more serviceable than this year's crop.
To be fair to Bowie I think if he could find a way to not foul constantly he'd be solid.

Then in 2018 if we can hit big on a true point and continue adding a good HS post annually we're going to be scary for the foreseeable future.

Highly doubt Kasongo starts..Lewis have feeling is going to be stud..might take year but he will play alot next season IMO..And yes we will bring in likely a juco big and a grad transfer as well or two..We will still sign another 3-4 in this class mostly upperclassmen..no predictions until we know what we have next year..

Wigginton and Lewis on the McD AA list. Granted it is early and there are a lot of nominees but, you do need to make the first cut to start.

@Stanz51 Iowa State signees Lindell Wigginton and Terrence Lewis are both nominees for the McDonald's All-American game

You can be the worst player in the country and get a McDonald's All-American nomination. It's free. FWIW

EDIT: Not to sound like I don't think this is great, I just don't think that should carry much weight. Lindell has the best shot of the pair, to be a McD AA, though.
