By no means am I a Big Ten defender/booster, but ... somebody's gotta get in. It so happens that BT has a bunch of teams clustered near the bubble area (and IU had the audacity to keep winning...)

If the goal is to reduce # of Big Ten bids, hope for the following:

* Iowa defeats IU ("rooting" for Hawks? Anathema!)
* Virginia Tech wins ACC auto-bid (ergo, 5 teams from a largely weak ACC get in; pick your poison)
* SMU wins American auto-bid (or at least get to title game and perhaps at-large)
* Davidson loses in A-10 championship ... still gets at-large, but Dayton/Richmond grabs a bid-steal.

If all of that occurs, maybe it'd drop to 7 (at least one of IU/RU/U-M probably secure no matter what).

I'd never cheer for that

We've slid far enough that I'm rooting for straight chalk the rest of the weekend.

If the B1G gets a bunch of bids that's super annoying but things will even out. If they succeed perhaps they're undervalued. Pac 12 did it last year.

Regarding the OU/U-M/Rutgers discussion, here is comparison, based on nitty-gritty sheet. It’s close, but everything is “close” when resumes are … close. Feel free to assess your order of preference.

This is ONLY a comparison among the 3, not relative to the rest of the contenders — all could be in, all could be out, or a combo. (A table format would help visually, but setup time probably isn't worth it).

(Net rank in parentheses, thru 3/11) - Records for Q1-2-3-4, road/neutral, SOS and Strength of Record:
(34) Michigan: 5-10 3-3 6-1 3-0 … 5-7 road, 2-2 neutral … NET SOS 5, non-con SOS 32 … SOR 44.
(39) Oklahoma: 4-12 6-2 2-1 6-0 … 3-8 road, 3-0 neutral … NET SOS 2, non-con SOS 148 … SOR 49.
(78) Rutgers: 6-6 3-4 4-2 5-1 … 4-9 road, 0-1 neutral … NET SOS 33, non-con SOS 328 … SOR 53.
Further details for Q1 & Q2:
U-M: Q1a 3-8 Q1b 1-2 | Q2a 2-2 Q2b 1-1
OU: Q1a 3-8 Q1b 1-4 | Q2a 3-2 Q2b 3-0
RU: Q1a 4-6 Q1b 1-1 | Q2a 3-2 Q2b 0-2

In a normal year, I could see Michigan getting in just because of its name. I could actually see the committee penalizing them for Howard's actions and not giving them that edge because of it.
Michigan is getting in due to brand name and pre season expectations very similar to how sparty got in last year.

Most of us Cyclone fans are lying if we don't admit we will be at least a tiny bit nervous when they reveal those "first four" games tomorrow.

I fully expect ISU to get a 9 seed with Gonzaga looming in the second round. Probably get an 8 seed that plays rugby defense in the first game.

Nobody should be nervous. Unless the committee’s first release, which was heavy on Q1 wins, reversed course we are going to likely be a 9 or 10. Even if for some reason we fell to Dayton, cool. We still made it and have chance to win and advance.

Lunardi's bubble watch this morning.
Texas A&M is about to take someone's spot. Dayton and Virginia Tech are also very much alive. Plus, there are lots of other teams (like Yale or Richmond) who could steal a bid if they win their conference tournament. This could be the one year that ISU has to sweat things out on Sunday.
