KSU @ ISU Postgame Thread******

I just don't understand how you see this as a coaching program. Lets see some of you geniouses design a player with a higher chance of success than what Fred's doing. He is putting our three best players (DG, Scotty, JVB) in the three positions where they are most successful (driving to the rim, spotted for three, spotted for three).

We are playing so well, but you can't blame anyone for being beyond frustrated with the way we finish. It's disgusting. Pullen drains that 3 under a minute to go, then we go Groundhog Day on offense and they come down, get a lucky bounce on the steal attempt, and lay in the winner. If we get the 6 games we lost with leads in the last minute, we are 20-4...is that not crazy to think about? Ah, what could have been...

They defended it well because it is the exact same ******* play we have run in every one of these...5 (?) games where we lost games in the last minute. It's not some coincidence that every team in the B12 knows just what we are going to do at the end of games.

Then what do you suggest? ISO Scotty, you think that would yield a better result? Let JVB post up? Ejim drive? Jake drive to the rim? What scenario would you rather see than Diante going to the basket-- what gives us a better chance of winning?

Scotty did have a good game today when he was driving to the hoop.

Better chance than the 0% that option has given us?

You need to pass the ball around to create an open shot, instead of making one player create something on his own, who is going to be tightly guarded (because they know it's coming).

Run. The. Damn. Offense.

Heres an idea run you offense, try to score points. KSU was still going to get the ball back for the last shot. Why run the clock down at that point?

I'd like to see us run a weave up top to create more motion at the end of games.

Otherwise...the problem lies primarily on the defensive side of the court with our team.

I love the general thought process of an Iowa State fan. Everyone on here set the bar as low as humanly possible, we win a few games and everyone thinks we are a tournament team, then we lose games and all the sudden everyone is pretty sure our coach has no idea what he is doing. The fact that we are competitive with 7 guys is a feat, simple as that.

Every other team in America would do that same thing at that point in the game. We score we are up 3 or 4, would you rather they have 30 seconds to score 3 or 4 points or 12 seconds?

we live and die with DG. Unfortunately, it is mostly die at the end of the game. For all who think it is coaching, there isn't anyone else on this team who can get their own shot off with consistency. I am more disappointed in DG's awlful defense on pullen. Just stay between him and the basket. Don't give up a layup. that is terrible.

It is just so disappointing that this team cannot finish games, on offense or defense. Frankly, with 3 seniors and a junior on the floor, that should not happen and yet it has happened again and again.

Without DG we wouldn't have even been in the game...but the coaches have GOT to be thinking about plays at the end of games other than DG stalls then goes in and drives.

I really, really, really hope that Fred reviews these losses alllllll offseason long and learns something from them.Because I don't think he's learned a damn thing yet.

Apparently not.

Once or twice is tough luck. Five times is a pattern.

And it isn't only that silly 1-4 disaster. There are always at least one or two bad possessions during the last 2-3 minutes (offense and defense) when it could become a 3-possession game instead of a 1-possession. But it never happens.

Hoiberg's coaching up until the last 2 minutes has been excellent most of the season. His coaching inside 2 minutes in close games has been atrocious.

It took 5 players to give you a chance to win, and then we put it all on 1 player (DG) time after time in a position to fail (you know, 5 guys standing around watching), yet we fail to change.

They are going to run the clock down reguardless. Why does it matter if they run 30 secs off or 12?
