For the fourth time in my life I will be heading up to Ames to watch my Cats take on the Cyclones Saturday at Jack Trice (1993, 2003, 2005). As you can see, KSU is 1-2 with me in the stadium. Gotta get that to .500 on Saturday. And no, I don't ever want to see a streaker on the field again!

Anyway, just asking for some advice on places to go after the game as far as bars. What are the best to hit? Probably looking for a place to chill out and watch the night games on TV. Sports bar would be good.

Should be a good game. I'd say it's gonna be closer than what the spread is set at.

Thanks for any help.

You"re Welcome to ISU.

Seriously, welcome! If you want to mingle with the ISU students, go to the many campustown bars on Welch Ave. If you want more of a chill bar, you may have more luck with Legends, Old Chicago, etc.

There are many bars (10+) within walking distance of each other so you can easily find something to your liking.

First, I'd like to extend a thank you for not being like the Mizzou and Toledo fans that have visited this board already this year and posted some incredibly dumb posts.

As for Sports Bars, not a lot of stuff in Ames, but Wallaby's on West Lincoln Way is a decent one, or there's Old Chicago on South Duff.

Hickory Park is the favorite resturant but I'm sure it'll be packed and there aren't any tvs. You actually might have the best time by going to Des Moines on your way home to eat if you want a bar-type atmosphere.

By the way - the only problem I've ever had with K-State fans is that they travel too damn well:wink:

I was at the K-State game in 1993........I remember winning and it being really, really cold.

Welcome!

Hickory Park would be about the last place you want to go if you want to watch games. In campus town you would want to hit Welch Avenue Station or Cy's Roost to watch a game. Legend's is near campus, great view of campus from the top story of the building and plenty of TV's. Wallaby's is a good place as well, but way out in West Ames, no where near the stadium or campus town.

I am a big fan of Welch Ave Station. You can't beat ordering the Pizza Pit Pizza and drummies while watching the game!!!!!!

Welch Ave Station would be a smart choice if you want a bar sceene. And can order food from upstairs pizza place.

If you want to stay around campus then check out Legends if you want more of a Resturant.

Resturants away from campus that would take care of food and beer needs with TV's would be Walaby's west Lincoln Way, Okoboji Grill on S. Duff or Old Chicago on S. Duff.

My vote also goes to Welch Ave. Station. Sounds like just what you're looking for. You can sit downstairs in the bar and have a pizza delivered from Pizza Pit upstairs.

Just wanna see a good game on Saturday and drink a TON of beer.

Thanks to everyone who's replied. Have some good ideas as to where to go. We're actually staying the night in Ames, so we're gonna hit a few places (I believe).

If you go to Welch Ave. Station, don't forget the Cheese Bread w/sauce. I haven't had it in a few years, but, it's always been heaven on a plate to me.

Make sure to hit the Gyroman if you go to Campustown. It just needs to be done.

Or the Superdog guy. But make sure you are really drunk because the hot dog will taste better than any morsel of food you have ever put into your mouth. Sober? It's just another hot dog...
