Keep Sawing Wood

Weird interview.

"It was my fault . . . for not paying attention to the red flags . . . philosophically . . . the structure and environment . . . I'm not a quitter."

What does that even mean?

There were obvious serious problems but he chose to ignore them. Like a completely chaotic sideline where players come off the field and get right up in the head and other coaches' faces. How many times this year have you seen that happen to Campbell and his staff?

Even if Mangino was asked about what we're the issues were with "the environment" at Iowa State, I doubt he would have said anything negative or commented on what he saw as a problem.
He's basically starting the interview process so he only wanted to talk specifics on past success.

I REALLY wish that the host would have pressed him more on this point. You say you didn't fit in? Why? Be specific? How was ISU "different than any program" you'd ever worked on before?

Yes, good points. My interpretation of what he said was this: Very positive comments about the ISU fans, coaches, administration(he's still getting a paycheck) I assume the "fit" problem is the football culture at Ames/ISU. His tenure did not help matters any but he may have a point if I've interpreted his comments correctly .
