I know this is a sports site and doesn't really move the needle much here, but it's a sad day for me. Kate Spade was found dead today, apparently by suicide (a note was found at the scene).

Even though she sold her company awhile back and stepped away from the business, she remains a visionary. I bought my first Kate Spade bag earlier this year, and it was a big deal to me.

It just goes to show that, even though it seems impossible to you that they could feel such pain, you really never know what somebody else may be going through. All the more reason to be kind to one another.

It's very sad. It's time (it's been time for a long time) for people and businesses to really take a look at mental health. The WHO estimates about 450 million people currently suffer from mental health issues, but there are limited resources available to individuals that help them objectively understand their mental health status.

The company I work for is helping to address this. We have a measurement tool that collects a person’s biometric data (such as heart rate and sleep patterns), and provides analysis to clarify factors affecting a person’s mental state. Our goal is to give individuals the power to understand their mental health by outlining indicators that may be influencing it. I love being part of a company that is out to help people. This is a massively important cause.

I know my stress level and quality of sleep have both gotten much worse in the past few years. I really should do something about it before it really affects my health.

That’s sad. Her tablesettings were ghastly expensive when they showed up on various wedding registries, assume purses the same. They were lovely though.

Rest in peace.

It's the fashion equivalent of Chris Cornell. And it's a loss. She was a good designer and any CoD grad can appreciate her work, including me.

Big deal here in KC (I live in KC now, just never updated bio), as she grew up here. I have 3 sisters, a wife, two daughters, mom and step-mom who are all very upset about this.

Suicide is awful and unfortunately have lost 2 cousins that way. Had no idea she was married to David Spade's brother.

Sad deal. She was originally from Kansas City.

I don't have any Kate Spade purses (mainly because I never found an outlet), but I somehow got on a Kate Spade email list and a few times a year they'd put the jewelry on clearance. I've bought a lot of really nice gifts for super cheap through that deal.

It saddens me that this has received way more press than today being the 50th anniversary of RFK's assassination.

She enriched herself via vanity. Yes, it's unfortunate that she felt strongly enough to do herself in but she's not some visionary that deserves all this attention. She made handbags and became famously wealthy. Only an out-of-whack, fanatically, religiously consumerist country like this would blow such a thing out of proportion.

Completely unnecessary and likely not posted if it'd been the creator of something more "manly".

Full price, yep. Like jsb said, sales were nice. Not that I indulge often, 1 wallet that's 5 years old and a purse that's 2.

I stated what I was in favor of in place of it - more attention on RFK. But then you'll spin that to make me sexist somehow I imagine right? Because he's a man? Since we're playing the assumption game? Right?

Nah, let's disregard that RFK stood for change on petty things like actual issues that still plague this country today, but not the Kate Spade handbag.

Yeah I bet if it'd been some football player we wouldn't be having this conversation. Again, entirely inappropriate. Probably short of oxygen up on that high horse.

Do you usually argue with assumptions? Probably not the greatest idea.
