NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Jealous much?
Myopic much? Are you so ensconced in your fandom that you can't just take step back, and admit that this was on your guy, without grasping at all of these conspiratorial straws? The Chiefs are a fantastic team. They've been on an incredible run. But they lost this one because of a marginal receiver who screwed up. That's it.

Lol I was just giving you crap. Lol I didn't say anything about a conspiracy. Also, I did say it was Toney's mistake. So wrong on both accounts. I was just saying I can understand some of the Chiefs statements and why they would be upset about some things. Doesn't mean I don't think he deserved to be flagged.

After taking 48 hrs to digest what happened as a Chiefs fan:

Was KT offsides? Absolutely.

It’s obvious that Mahomes’s outburst goes beyond the call itself (that he later apologized for). Obviously the time to call out officiating should have came after the GB as they botched calls for both sides that whole last drive. His frustration reached a tipping point but he isn’t the person to call out a teammate (as much as it is warranted) and throw them in the mud. The frustration still has to be put towards something and the next easiest entity to blame no matter the sport is officiating. And that is how we got to where we are at today.

Fair enough. My apologies, then

How does that work exactly? Who runs up to the coach to tell them a player is offsides? The officials have to watch the play. The ball could be snapped the second the players are set. They have to watch for motion and other things going on pre-snap. How the hell are they supposed to have a conversation with the coach? Yeah I call bullsh!t. Like coaches never stretch the truth, or just flat out lie, all the time.
The official that is on the sideline will say something to the coach, who is generally standing right there at the LOS also. "Coach, you need to talk to this receiver, he is lining up a little down field", that is it, no one is stopping the game, just a little curtesy to the coaches.

Without a doubt Toney was off-sides, no one is arguing or saying he was not, what most Chief's fans are upset about was that even though Toney was off-sides, they usually let it slide the first time or two, then tell the coach, and if it continues then call it. The league was supposed to crack down the "tush push" where linemen were in the neutral zone and the league wanted them to slide back. 13 times it's been called this year on the offense, 12 have been in "tush push" plays and then Toney's play Sunday night.

Man some people really don’t like that the Chiefs have been so good. Must be a jealousy thing.
I've gone to at least 3 Chiefs games every year for the past 15 or so years. Was at this game. It was a penalty and to add salt to the wound by a guy who has been given chance after chance but been terrible. This season the Chiefs have wasted the best defense they've arguably ever had by bone headed offensive mistakes. Special teams has had some head scratching moments too, regardless of who's back on punt returns they seem to love to field it instead the 5.

Imagine if the Chiefs drafted LaPorta instead of a local project defensive end who barely plays.

TE was not an area of need to use a 1st rounder on when you have one of the best TE of all time in Kelce. Gray and Fortson are adequate backups as well. Kelce is 34 so will eventually he will start to slow down but TE was not a position of weakness going into the draft.

Nick Wright has single-handedly made me enjoy the current Chiefs downfall. I’ve been a casual Chiefs fan since moving here, but his takes have ruined them for me.

Toney 'putting the hammer down' as Mitch might say, right on his foot.

Another drop, this time a drop to the Patriots (INT) which led to a TD a couple of plays later.

Mahomes has to be frustrated. Hard to rely on Toney right now. Talent, yes, bonehead plays and drops aplenty, yes again.

It was a win, but damn, are we ever going to stop the drop passes? The Chiefs will not do it, but they would be better off to cut Toney tomorrow, use that as a point to the rest of the WR's that if you are not producing, and continue to do silly things, you are not going to be doing it here for the Chiefs.
