NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Moore is still young and cheap, they will keep him around another year, MVS is finished in KC at the end of the season and should be. Toney is still up in the air, guy has amazing talent, but he is a headcase, and cannot stay healthy. KC was expecting him to be the number one receiver this season, and really step up his game, it's not happening.

The Chiefs are really going to be up against the wall this offseason, they are going to have to let Jones go and then use that money to pay the rest of the defense and try and find a WR or two.

More frustrating with the wrong routes. Skyy MVS and Toney consistently getting missed for running the wrong variation of a route. Watson as well.
Yeah, That is really what I was talking about. Seems like it is a problem with their football IQ. Not being able to determine where they should be taking the route. One of the reasons Rice has been so good is that when he has made a mistake like that he learns and has corrected it. Moore is in year 2 of still struggling with the offense.

And as expected, Toney never looked to the sideline anyways

Also Von Miller being "clearly offside" but maybe actually just his facemask barely in the neutral zone at snap.

That clip is even more damning for Toney because you can see the receiver on the other half of the field, look over to the line judge, check, and give him a thumbs up acknowledging that he was good.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes need to eat this for real. It's one thing to be pissed of on a judgment call, but to be blatantly wrong and say that they should have just let the game play out is BS. If they are going to go with the just let them play philosophy Mahomes better never be looking for a flag after a questionable late hit.

I tend to think all the frustration boiled over last night, Mahomes and Reid had to be thinking these guys are going to get it, they will tighten up on catching the ball, and the little things will start to happen, and its just not going to this year. That is why you really cannot have young receiving group and an airhead as your lead receiver of the group. Running the wrong routes, not understanding how to get open and the correct read got to Mahomes last night, and the Toney lining up wrong just set him off. Reid had no choice but to agree with him, and show him that he has his back.

4 weeks left, they could easily go 4 and 0, but I think they will be 2-2, back into the playoff and not make it through more than a game maybe two.

Sure neither saw the replay before they had an interview camera shoved in their face. No one wants to throw Toney under the bus (at this point I'd say why not). Couple that with Cheffers history on the Chiefs and a fair bit of frustration. I'd guess you see some retractions today. Glad someone at least starting to show a little passion on the team though. Good get right game next week against the Patriots... season can go one of two directions.

yeah, Reid always has his players back. So that wasn't a surprise. I think Mahomes like you said has been holding a lot in and been super frustrated with his receivers and it just boiled over. There were times you could see in the game where a WR would mess up and the camera would show him and he would be mouthing things, one time it was something like "what was he doing?"

At this point I’m resigned- the Chiefs just don’t have it this year. The focus and the attention to detail. The fire. All the things you need to win in the NFL. It’s exemplified by our WRs but the whole offensive unit is a mess.

We are not going to the Super Bowl and we might be in for a short playoff season. Hopefully we can hold on to the West at least.

Game up on Denver and tiebrake in hand... super easy schedule to finish.

Only thing that may come as a result of yesterday is higher probability of getting Buffalo in the first round instead of Indy, Cleveland, Denver, or Pittsburg. Could have buried a really good team. AFC playoffs are wide open this year. Despite Chiefs struggles the wild card teams are trash and you have wins over 2 of the 3 division winners.

All true. We have as good of a chance as anyone in the AFC. But I just can’t see us stringing together three playoff wins. We’re so mistake prone this year.

Yeah, that is the major issue. How can they string wins together with so many self inflicted things? IT is why it is so hard to repeat. To mentally get to that place where you are dialed in every game and on the other side every team wants to take down the defending champ.

genuinely not sure who you are referring to here as it seems like it could be multiple players.

I think if the lineman’s head is in front of the hips of the lineman next to him he’s considered on the line/not in the backfield.

Obviously line/backfield criteria is a little bit more flexible than across-the-line-of/scrimmage criteria.
I was just curious because some were trying to say in the X post it was illegal formation as well and I wasn't sure what the rule actually is for that.

I am a Chiefs fan and didn't get to watch the game, but after seeing the highlight Tooney was clearly offsides. Reid and Mahomes ******** about it is not right, but I'm sure they are fed up with the receivers. Earlier in the year Mahomes was trying not to throw the receivers under the bus (which looks bad). I realize that mistakes happen, but the receiver group alone has cost the so many games this year with drops, drops that lead to pics, mis routes, bad penalties, etc. Even when Mahomes makes a perfect throw the receivers still can't catch the ball. I'm sure the emotions of Mahomes boiled over. Not a good look, but understand the frustration.

Off topic from the previous game, but is there any way to listen to the games on the radio in the Des Moines area? I'm not always able to watch the games, or all of them so sometimes I can catch them in my car or working in my garage. I used to listen to them on 1700am and that is the place listed to listen to them, but it hasn't been on there for any games that are not stand alone/primetime games on Westwood One.

Will he ever be expensive? He sucks.
