NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Also worth noting is that the Bills DE appeared to be lined up in the neutral zone during each of the next three plays after the Toney call and nothing was called. I think that played into the Chiefs frustrations with the zebras.

A Bills DE who was arrested for beating up his pregnant GF (allegedly) last week, mind you.

Well we've seen Taylor called several times for lining up too far behind the line so doesn't surprise me anymore. Toney probably was a lonely man in the locker room other than Mahomes probably making a visit to chew his ass out.
Mahomes needs to chew his ass and the rest of the receiver's corps, they are not doing their job, it's as simple as that. It's one thing for the defense to get penalties because they are being aggressive, but this season is going to go down as the season of drops and penalties. Correct those and we are undefeated instead of 8-5.

It is embarrassing for the Chiefs. And for Toney. The League, not really.

The flag was thrown before the pass was completed so Mahomes complaining that the refs took something away from Kelce is also crap. I get being upset after a loss, but this is maybe more about KC falling to 8-5 than the play.

So are the refs supposed to tell the HC that any of their players are lined up offside, offensive or defensive?

Or are the players grown men that should know the rules? Especially when it's something as easy as looking down the line at the ball.

It's silly. The blame, if you want to put on that one play, is Toney's. But you don't lose games on one play and Andy Reid knows that too.

Mahomes is complaining about the refs making that call in his presser as well. Says "let the players determine the games".

This is my biggest pet peeve. Are there bad calls that sway games? Sure. but this was determined by Toney.

Are they supposed to play with no rules so the “player determines the game”.

Golden boy Mahomes is completely wrong here.

Refs warn coaches when one of their offensive players are lined up off sides? Is that seriously a thing? Why don't they warn coaches when one of their defensive players are lined up in the neutral zone? Confusing.

It's been a thing in football all the way down to high school forever. You ever notice receivers pointing to the sidelines after they get wide as they are getting set? They are pointing at the line judge to make sure they are behind the line. It's Toney's job to ask the official if he's good or not. The ref doesn't just do it.

Schefter said Reid was mad that refs didn't warn him about Toney being lined up off sides. That might just be misreporting. Did KT do the point and verify thing before this play?

Maybe if Toney's entire body wasn't in the neutral zone...

Refs give all sorts of grace to both offense and defense when it comes to the neutral zone, a hand or a helmet in the neutral zone but not called, but you can't just be standing in it.
