NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Was really worried about this game. Chargers had won two straight in Arrowhead. This was an ugly but huge win. Chiefs schedule is brutal.
Sure 2 straight, but the first of the two was the final week of 2020 and Chad Henne started at QB because KC had already locked up the one seed in the playoffs.

I'll take 2-0 even if it was ugly at times. The funny thing is we are so used to Mahomes and the KC offense just blowing teams out of the water that when they "only" score 27 and Mahomes goes 24-35 for 2 TD and no INT we think that is a bad game because we are used to them just putting up video game like stats sometimes. Mahomes targeted 10 different players last night against a Chargers defense that is pretty good and they spent a lot of money in the offseason on some guys trying to close that gap with KC too. Last week Mahomes targeted 10 players as well in the passing game. He's just a crazy talented QB that has a knack of finding guys and making tough throws and I think they have a few more guys this year than they did last year that you are going to see him spread the ball around more than he has when it was mostly just Hill and Kelce and maybe sprinkle in some Sammy Watkins or Hardman when they were healthy.

I am really glad they brought McKinnon back, he adds another look out of the backfield and is a nice back to have on passing downs. I think where the Chiefs really did well in the offseason was the draft based on early returns so far. McDuffie looked good last week before he got hurt, Karlaftis is making an impact on the DL, their 2 7th round picks in Pacheco and Watson are making plays. Skyy Moore should start to see more targets as the season goes on, Cook is getting some playing time, Chenal got a couple tackles and a hit on the QB last night, Williams had a tackle last week, and Kinnard will likely see some time on the OL this season too. I think they found some good players that are going to fill some voids they had and with the big contracts they have handed out to some guys they need to hit on a lot of their draft picks going forward as they won't have as much flexibility to go out and sign guys in free agency. It's a lot like the Patriots model in the Brady years, build around a core of guys and draft good talent that you have cost control over for awhile then make a decision to extend or trade them before they hit free agency. They turned Hill into multiple draft picks that I think will help them more in the long term than if they had kept and extended him.

With all the young guys on defense, they are just going to keep improving as the season progresses.
Also, I think Mahomes is still developing chemistry with this group of receivers. Wanting to see more Skyy Moore as well.
Love that they are sticking to running the ball more as well.

Entire special teams unit should get cut today... well likely Amendola probably is regardless, but still.

Can't imagine what Jones said to draw a flag there. Weak call.

That's a really tough loss considering upcoming schedule. I think 3-3 is probably likely after next 3 games

Mess around, fool around, and before long you will not be around. Chiefs tried to get cute today, and in the end, it cost them a victory. Always take the points when you have the lead, always.

We need a big time WR. We needed one even when Tyreek was there.
The problem for the Chiefs is we draft to far down in the draft to get a difference maker, so you have to try and get a lower-level rated player that is underrated. They are there, but you have to get lucky and find them.

Chris Jones. Unreal. Just get up off the pile and go celebrate with your own teammates.
Jones is an alpha Alphas think they can do and say anything they want (sometimes). Comes with the territory I guess. But he just cost the Chiefs a game.

Hopefully he will learn, as will the other alphas on the team. Time to use your head and be humble. For the team!
