NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Simmons and Moore will be fine at tackle, cut Taylor if you can make the money work. You are not going to be able to move Jones and if you could who are your replacing him with? Someone in the draft, but we need more than a D tackle in this draft. I have stated all season, the RBs are not good enough, we need a serious upgrade there on the roster, and this could be the year you draft Love out of ND if he is there, gets you 5 cheap years before you have to pay him big money. We need another rush end, more speed at LBer and depth on the back end of the defense. Throw in a TE would also be nice.

My draft wish list

1st round, if Love is there, you grab. him, if not you are taking the best DE, DT or TE on the board, this player has to be able to help you next season big time. KC will have Lott returning so that should help next season.

2nd round you pick the best player left from the position you did not fill with the first pick.

3rd round, the same, you pick the best player in a position not filled in rounds 1 and 2.

No fourth round pick.

5, 6 and 7 you are looking for depth, you have filled the RB, TE, DE or DT position, you now looking to add a young LB, corner and depth along both lines. If there is a player there after our choice in the 1st round that you think will help, dangle your 1st round pick in the draft next season to get him, but keep your 2nd round pick Thinking next year instead of drafting in the middle of the draft, you will be back to 31 or 32 again.
Why is Mahomes always running for his life? Even when the line is healthy?

There is no chance this front office drafts a running back and gives him first round money. They aren't interested in paying veteran running backs either and I don't blame them. I like their model of only giving long term expensive contracts QBs, offensive lineman, and dominant defensive tackles. Thats pretty much what the better franchises do these days. Except for those things keep your team super young.
The chiefs are one of the better franchises and if you can get Love at 13 or 14 you take him. This is not trading up for a QB, like I stated earlier most scouts had him with a top 5 draft slot. How much is McCathery worth to the 49ers, Love could be like that for the Chiefs. The key to running backs is their first 4 to 5 years, when they are still young and fairly cheap, you do not want to overpay for a high use running back because they have short careers. But on their first contract that is not a problem. I would be much more worried giving Hall 3 or 4 years at top dollar than Love for this first 4 or 5.

Well lets see, we were starting a new Left tackle that was a rookie, we were starting a guard that was who we thought was our future left tackle, so he was learning and playing a new position. We traded an all pro guard because we locked up the other guard and the center.
Creed is still a stud at center, Simmons will be a stud at L. tackle, the guards are fine, they just need time, and you do not draft a tackle high in the draft to play right tackle when you already have Taylor and Moore to play the position.

A combination of him not playing well and the offense is figured out. The RPO game the chiefs are doing needs a change. You have heard defenders all year talk about how they know what’s coming and are not afraid of the chiefs anymore. Sean Payton said at halftime in our game that chiefs are not a 2nd half team anymore and he was right.

Combine that with no running game, and a QB that has not played well and you get this year.

Agreed. I've been complaining about the playcalling all year. Its been obvious defenses know where they're goin. None of the receivers seem to ever be able to get much separation.

Here is what one writer for the Athletic said about the Chiefs and Mahomes's injury.

Nguyen: This should be remembered as the season in which Reid learned that it’s important to have a good under-center run game in this era of football. Defenses are light and play 2-high at a consistent rate. The Chiefs should have learned that lesson after their Super Bowl loss, but they instead doubled down on their passing game. Their offensive line will be good when healthy, but they really need to upgrade the running back position and commit to a run game. With Mahomes hurt, it should be an even bigger sign that they need to take the load off him in the future. On a side note, if Kelce retires, it would be cool to replace him with Kyle Pitts, who could be a free agent if the Atlanta Falcons don’t franchise tag him.

When I see the Chiefs + Andy, all over Endless commercials (toss in Jason)
Hunger be gone.
Hope PM's and TK's high end restaurant succeeds.
Both are NFL done, namely TK.

Immaturely hated Brady n crew, yet they never lost focus.
Chiefs? Yep.

Be wise. I dumped State Farm.
Much better rates elsewhere, minus multiple millions spent on Chief's stars.

Brady and Pats players were all over the place with commercials during their run also. It's difficult for any team to have a run like KC has, because the more you win, other teams offer your players more money to play for them. KC has done a great job of trading players that they could not afford to pay, and draft replacements. Now it's not been perfect, they gambled that Taylor would solve their tackle problem which has been lacking for years, and it has not worked out, leads the league in penalties every year. Unlike MLB and the Dodgers they cannot just keep spending each year to bring in new players, in the NFL you have to make choices and spend where you can. The 49ers reached that point last season, and started getting rid of some of their older stars, attempting to get younger and cheaper.

KC will be fine, Mahomes is not even halfway through his prime years and wants to win. 9 western division championships in a row, 7 AFC championship appearances in a row, 5 Super Bowl appearances with 3 NFL titles all under Mahomes since the 2018 season, Mahomes played only the last game of the season he was drafted in 2017. Kelseys career is over and will be in the HOF immediately after he retires, there is no reason the Chiefs cannot reload and be better when Mahomes comes back, even if it's not until 2027.

Remind me of Pats "all over the place," during their prime, commercial-wise.
I don't recall, could be wrong.
Gronk? Yep, albeit post primetime.
Was Brady doing commercials during his endless run?
Not sure, but I don't recall.

End of day, I dumped State Farm for Liberty Mutual.
Much better rates-coverage.
Just saying, minus "Chief hatred."

Brady

While playing for the Patriots, Tom Brady starred in numerous commercials, most notably
local spots for Shields MRI (often featuring his Super Bowl rings), Intel(showing Replay 360 tech), and national ads for brands like UGGs, Snickers, Dunkin', and Dodge, often showcasing his iconic status or humor.
Key Commercials During His Patriots Tenure (2000-2019):
  • Shields MRI: A very popular local campaign in New England where he'd interact with staff and show off his championship rings, with slogans like "Roger That".
  • Intel: An ad showcasing Intel's 360-degree replay technology for the Super Bowl.
  • Dodge Dart: A humorous spot where he's surprised to find himself in the ad.
  • UGGs: Ads highlighting the comfort of UGGs, including one with a long bus representing his career.
  • Snickers: A memorable ad where he appeared in a rival Jets huddle.
  • Dunkin': He did several Dunkin' ads, including some with other Boston legends like Ben Affleck and Matt Damon later on.

Gronk

While playing for the Patriots, Rob Gronkowski appeared in many commercials, notably
the funny VISA Checkout "Big Gronkowski" ad with his family, the Nike "Snow Day" commercial with other NFL stars like Odell Beckham Jr., an ESPN "This is SportsCenter" ad, and even a Kids Foot Locker "Grown Up" spot. He also did ads for Mobile Strike, Subway, and later, Tostitos, with fellow Patriot Julian Edelman.
Key Commercials During His Patriots Era:
  • VISA Checkout: "The Big Gronkowski" (2015) where a man wearing his jersey gets VIP treatment.
  • Nike: "Snow Day" (2015) with Suh, Beckham Jr., and Kuechly.
  • ESPN: "This is SportsCenter" (2015) with his dad, "Papa Gronk".
  • Kids Foot Locker: "Grown Up" (2015) where he acts like a kid despite being a grown-up.
  • Mobile Strike: "At Home With the Gronkowskis" (2015) with his brothers.
  • Subway: Featured with other athletes like Derek Jeter and Simone Biles in spots like "Talk About Classics".

The fact that you had State Farm to begin with and dumping them now is the laughable thing that you even bring this up in a thread about the Chiefs like there is some kind of relevance with your poor choice and gave you a reason to switch. I've heard nothing but bad things about State Farm that when you need to use them for a claim they are difficult to work with. I even entertained getting a quote from them they were easily the highest along with having to pay a higher deductible on top it if they do approve your claim so they have never been an option for me.

Had a neighbor that had State Farm that replaced their roof out of pocket 1 year then a year later a bad hail storm came through and nearly every house in the neighborhood had their roofs replaced through insurance claims. State Farm would not even send out an adjustor to look at their roof unless they got 3 different roofing companies to provide documentation that the roof was damaged and needed repaired. My insurance came out and did not hesitate to replace it at full cost including gutters and downspouts and all new screens on my windows as it all received hail damage.

If you are purchasing a product or service based on the celebrity pushing the service or product, doesn't that say a little bit more about you, then the product itself? I could care less who is endorsing a product, it has nothing to do if I go out and purchase it. Love the Audi Fairway commercials, but they does not make me want to shop only at Fairway because she is there spokesperson.

Since I'm not a Chiefs fan I'm happy to get a break from that dynasty. I didn't seeing it flaming out this hard though. The injury was a crazy kick in the nuts right at the end. I expected someone to finally get over them in the playoffs , not for them to be eliminated early with Patrick on the shelf.

It might be a blessing in disguise, getting knocked out early gives KC a better draft slot this spring, Mahomes is a year younger than Brady when he had his ACL, he will be fine and so will the Chiefs. Just need to do a little reload and start winning again.

I think they need more than a little reload, but having Mahomes and that coaching staff is a good start,
Next year is probably a loss though too as Pat is not going to be ready in September (they shouldn't rush it either).

Agree. Given the success they've had, it's not as though anyone is going to be happy with a wild card and a first round exit. If that's not possible you're probably better off improving your draft position. Being "close" doesn't do much - especially given the state of their franchise recently.

I am disappointed this run is over, but the Chiefs have played nearly nine full seasons since 2018, when you take the playoffs into account. That is a **** ton of football.

Get healthy, rebuild, get back.
