NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Veach's team building has been questionable the last couple years and it shows. He hit on a couple drafts (the Tyreek Hill assets one especially) but then has whiffed lately. Cannot have the highest paid players at multiple positions then miss on the more affordable guys.

The league has figured out Reid's offense. They really need some new blood on the offensive staff. Mahomes needs to maybe get a new off season QB coach. He has regressed and has not been great the last couple of years. Yes they have a lot of drops, penalties, and no running back. He is missing open guys. That first INT to Juju was a late throw behind him a bit. DB made a hell of a play, but it was not a great throw.

Still what a hell of a 10 year run. Can't let that be forgotten. Every franchise would kill for half the success the Chiefs have had.

Agreed. I work with bears fans and I just don’t think I could hang on this long.

Also, needs to be said that 4th down decision to go for it on the 31 was the dumbest possible thing I've seen from Reid considering how well the defense was playing and the stakes in this game. Holy crap that was bad.

Breece Hall signing with Kansas City is a scary thought for 2026. Hunt has been good in short yardage but it's really hard to build a running game around someone who's lucky to have a carry longer than 10 yards.

They probably need to also grab a receiver (Juan Jennings maybe?) who can actually be counted on to catch contested passes, too many gadget receivers who have the same basic profile.

As I said in another thread, no one has played more football the last seven years than the Chiefs. They are mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. Time for this run to come to an end. I am only disappointed that so many players (Bukter, Rice, Kelce, Gray) just completely crapped the bed on their team tonight.

Cut Bukter, cut Taylor, Kelce needs to retire. Maybe do not give McDuffie the huge bag he wants. Get younger and hungry. I would say let Jones go, but the man was a beast tonight.

Play a 3rd place schedule instead of the hardest schedule that they played the last few years. Mahomes has still got 2-3 Super Bowls in him.

And just an aside. Just my personal opinion. Veach ****** up by not getting Breece for a 3rd round pick, even if he was a rental. Pacheco and Hunt are mid at best. I honestly believe Breece would have helped us win 2 of the last 4 losses. I bet he would have at least 2 TD of plus 30 yards.
Nobody is running behind that line dude.

Never been a fan of Nagy, so bringing in someone new cannot hurt. They are set a WR with Worthy and Rice, so we just need to find a 3rd receiver. Same along the O Line, when they are healthy they have been pretty good, so that is not an area of need. Would love to move Taylor, but that is not happening. RB and TE are the two position of need on the offense I would say.
Getting Lott back will help the D line, but we need another difference maker somewhere along the line, either at tackle or end. LBers should be in good shape, looking for depth, depending on what they do with McDuffy, we can always need help at corner.

He hasn't regressed. When the defense knows everything the receivers are going to do its hard for them to get open.

They are not set at WR. Rice is a good #2 but is not an alpha WR. Does not do good against man and doesn’t make the tough catches. Worthy is ok. Kelce is the man but it’s time to go. We have no one that beats man coverage right now.

But a lot of that is because the defense does not have to fear they are going to burnt by our running backs. They are hard runners, but not one is capable of taking it for a long TD run, or making a guy miss. Our WRs are also dropping a lot of passes, and Mahomes has not been as sharp the past couple of years as he was earlier in his career.

He has regressed. He doesn't hit his deep ball very much, missing lot of reads, gets jumpy in the pocket even when its clean. These are all things that can be corrected, but to say he hasn't regressed is being blind to what's happening on the field.

Rice missing those first 6 games because of the suspension really hurt him this season in taking the next step in his development. Everyone was saying that he would be a beast when he came back, and it has not worked out that way. We only have 6 picks in the draft, WR is one of those you can let slide for a year, as we have more pressing needs. How much better would the receiver core look with a vintage Kelsey, guy has been a shadow of himself the past couple of years. Find a TE and a RB that puts the fear into people, and Worthy and Rice will eat them up.

Taylor's gone after this year. They need cap space next year and cutting him gets them a good chunk,

Whole offensive scheme needs a refresh, and they would do well to seek someone from outside of Reid's circle to accomplish this. Nagy must go.

Let's start with spelling Kelce right when talking about the Chiefs ;)

Rice is what he is, a great player when you get the ball in his hands running in space and against zone. Average or below average in man/contested coverage. Worthy is complimentary player who can make the tough catch, but size limits his potential. They should be playing Thorton more, he is always getting open. The rest are a bunch of JAGs.

It's got to be autocorrect as he has spelled it wrong forever. Same with McDuffie.

Its hard to hit the deep ball when you're flushed out of the pocket every pass play. Helps to have guys that can get deep too. He can't do it on his own.

A better RB would have done nothing to change anything this year. Would have just been paying more money for nothing more than we already got. There aren't holes to run through and no back can make them.

I think a dynamic RB is needed for this offense. There have been a lot of good holes that Hunt hits, but is too slow to break away. Pacheco cannot read blocks to save his life. Andy does not commit to the run is another issue. When he had McCoy in Philly or even Damien Williams/ Jerick McKinnon in KC, he could scheme up some crazy screens or plays for the RB out of the backfield. We missing all that right now.

Better fix the O-line before they waste their time with a back.

The Oline has been good when healthy. Even last night Pole did a great job considering his first start. Mahomes is not trusting it a lot of the time. He bails on clean pockets or doesn't step up in the pocket a lot of the time. It correctable for him, but he is regressing in that aspect.
