NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

4th and 1, deep in your own territory. Go for it? Fine, but run the ******* football. JFC.
Maybe worse decision I've seen Reid make defense was dominating and you put them in scoring position by your own doing. If it's on the 50 maybe but not your own 30

I'd have punted there too

Was typing at the snap, not hindsight.

Pin them inside the 15, let your defense go to work, maybe get the ball at midfield to start the next drive.

They better figure something out offensively before next year. Wow they just don't seem focused. Crazy thing is they still aren't eliminated.
I figured they would win out. This game was the easiest home game left. I'm not sure they will finish the season with a winning record now.

Mahomes has to be super frustrated. Reid going for it on fourth when you’re already inside Houston FG range if you don’t convert. Then the Rice drop next 4th down. Then get the ball back and Kelce looks like a junior varsity receiver out there

The offense is totally predictable. It needs a reboot scheme wise. The O-line wasn't terrible. It seems like the offense basically runs the same set of plays every week. The little motions and things that used to help get guys open just aren't fooling anyone anymore.

So we have a 16% chance of making the playoffs, so little or no chance. We are now at a point that every win this year, moves us down draft slots in the up coming draft. We are better off losing every game the rest of the way and rebooting the team for next season. Hate to say that, but this season is over.

Go tell Mahomes to lose out. Tell me what he says. You don't tank the season when you aren't even eliminated. Its not like this is 2 win team competing for the number one pick. Getting 4-5 spots higher in the draft isn't that big of a deal.

Ya, it is a big deal, then you throw in the easier schedule next year it adds up. Mahomes is going to play a long time still, getting better players this draft to help him in the future is more important than this season. Plus he is already hurting, look at the way he is walking.
I have to believe Mahomes sees the big picture here, no one is saying tank the rest of the games, but for the team going forward, that is the best thing that could happen. We are now in 10th place for a 7 team field and still have to play Denver and LA that need every win they can get for a better seed. So the team goes 8 and 9 on the season, they would be better off going 6 and 11 and getting the higher draft picks and the 3rd place schedule, we are not going to catch the Raiders for last either way.

As I said in another thread, no one has played more football the last seven years than the Chiefs. They are mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. Time for this run to come to an end. I am only disappointed that so many players (Bukter, Rice, Kelce, Gray) just completely crapped the bed on their team tonight.

Cut Bukter, cut Taylor, Kelce needs to retire. Maybe do not give McDuffie the huge bag he wants. Get younger and hungry. I would say let Jones go, but the man was a beast tonight.

Play a 3rd place schedule instead of the hardest schedule that they played the last few years. Mahomes has still got 2-3 Super Bowls in him.

And just an aside. Just my personal opinion. Veach ****** up by not getting Breece for a 3rd round pick, even if he was a rental. Pacheco and Hunt are mid at best. I honestly believe Breece would have helped us win 2 of the last 4 losses. I bet he would have at least 2 TD of plus 30 yards.

Totally agree, time to retool the team and move forward. Kelsey will retire at the end of the year, not sure they can cut Taylor as the cap hit would kill us, we are stuck with him another year. See what McDuffie wants to resign, I would just as soon keep him, but if can bring in a first round pick, you move him.
Totally agree about Hall, the offense needs something and a back of his caliber might have changed everything.

As far as needs in the draft, at around 15 to 20 position, I am taking the best TE, D lineman or if they move McDuffie corner in the draft. If none of those types of players are available, I would seriously look at the RB from ND. Kid is a game change, and while I would hate to take in the first round, if there is not a stud player at a position of our needs, I would take him. We are fine at WR, Oline, LB and of course QB.

And the 3rd place schedule doesn't really get any easier next year. They have the AFC East. (So the Bills are still on the schedule and the upstart Pats, and I wouldn't count out the Dolphins being decent) and the NFC West (3 teams will likely make the playoffs this year) The 3rd place teams in the AFC North and AFC South are likely the Bengals and either Indy or Houston.

That was 100% Mahomes going for it not Reid. Reid was ready to punt and Mahomes talked him into it. Reid needed to tell him no at the time, and didnt.
