NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

They went through a decade of struggling before they could regroup. It's not only drafting towards the end year after year, but you also get a tougher schedule. Players get more expensive on teams that win, and you have to start making choices of letting some of your better players walk. The Pats were masters of it, getting rid of a player a year early to avoid paying him more down the road.
Even more reason to dump our high priced veterans and not sign players like McDuffie to long term deals. This team isn't awful it's just frustrating to know they are real close to being a super bowl team. JFC this isn't a 3-14 team it's really pretty similar to the last 2 years the bounces just havent gone their way this year. We all knew one of these years that would be the case. The Mahomes, Jones, , Kelce run is over. Time for the Mahomes,....,...., run to begin. I don't think we need high first round picks to bea super bowl contender again. We are close right now. If we were anyone but the Chiefs everyone would be saying the same thing.

I'm
Jones's dead cap hit is $ 71.5 million for 2025 and down to $48 million for 2026. He will be here until at least then, more likely 2027 to move him then when the cap hit is down to $19 million.

He needs to take the rest of the year off and get rested then. One reason the Chiefs have been so good the last several years is because they don't lose to lousy franchises like the Cowboys. Frustrating loss in a must win game. I can handle losing to Buffalo or Baltimore but this is embarrassing.

Over my head comments, as I'm not a Chief's fan.
Nor a Patriots/Brady fan, yet the latter?
Never went the Hollywood route(?)
Hated Brady, tho never lost respect for that "mofo."

Offensive line should be the number one focus in the off-season. This team is top 10 in scoring defense and yardage allowed. Its not like they are getting destroyed in these losses. They are right there. Its been different things each week. Tbh nothing about the team has been outstanding this year really except for Rice IMO and his stupid off the field **** cost him half the season. That guy has been even better than I thought he'd be.

While this season has been a complete and utter disappointment I disagree with all the haters that say this is "the end" of the chiefs success. Sometimes people need to be humbled. They don't need a total overhaul to get back to the top.

What high price veteran are you going to be able to dump without taking a horrible cap hit? That is the problem, you have players like Taylor that its better for the team to keep him then release him and take the cap hit. Taylors dead money is almost $35 million if you cut him, his contract is up after next season, then you can move on from him.

KC defenders held Cowboys receivers constantly. That’s their MO. Dare the officials to call the penalty. McDuffie probably still has a handful of jersey. Pickens and Lamb were too much for the Chiefs. Chiefs were called for the penalties they committed. Evidently the Chiefs have difficulty when the officials make the calls.

Call it both ways is my complaint, Both Lamb and Pickens would push off the defender every time they made their break to get separation, and it was never called. The pick play they call, which took away a first down, was not a pick play. How can you pick the guy covering you. Even the announcers thought it was the wrong call.
KC has struggled all year in multiple phases of the game, they rush a lot of people and struggle to get home, yesterday we kept trying to throw downfield, and Mahomes was off the entire game. Dallas was rushing five repeatedly and KC did not have a hot receiver to throw the ball too when it happened. KC rushed for a little over 100 yards but 30 of that was on Mahomes scrambles. We need to improve the running room next season, not one of the guys we have is a threat to make a long run, great at 3rd and 1 or 2, horrible at making a defender miss and running it in from 30 yards out.

That’s what Chiefs opponents have been saying for a long, long time. Chiefs have been getting favorable calls for years. The epic defensive back muggings and early hits that ends up with the pass hitting the defender first as he tackles the receiver to the ground with the early hit.

I saw a stat today, KC was called for 5 pass interference calls in the 2nd half, 4 by the defense and one by the offense, that is the most called and accepted against one team for a half in the past 35 years.
There are a lot of Chiefs haters without a doubt, but if you look at the number of times KC is actually penalized compared to the team they are playing, the Chiefs tend to have more penalties called against them, currently they are 6th in the league with penalties called against them.

The Chiefs gave up the right to criticize officiating a long time ago.

So you are fine with them getting screwed over by the refs? Never understood all the hate for the Chiefs, as a fan of over 50 years, and going through decades of horrible seasons, to actually then see them start to become a power is just too much for many I guess.

Were you fine when other teams got screwed while the Chiefs benefitted from terrible calls?
