NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Really don't think this is a big of deal as some are making it out as. Especially with the way teams are playing the KC offense right now.

The guy averaged 1200 yards from scrimmage and 10 TDs per year for his entire career (6 years)with Kansas City. He had the most targets and receptions in his career last year, and led the team in both categories, so it's not like he was slowing down or the Chiefs were starting to move the offense away from him

For comparison, Kelce averaged roughly the same yardage but less touchdowns over the same period.

This is a guy that forced the opponent to key on him, and on many plays drew two defenders. That kind of production is very, very difficult to replace.

This was obviously a money move. And at $30M per year I do not blame him one bit...

But I can't believe he's walking away from a team that just went AFCCG, Super Bowl, Super Bowl, AFCCG and brings most everyone back... in favor of Tua's left arm.

The one game he didn't play this year. Hardman had something like 10 receptions and over 100 yards.
Yeah he got a ton of receptions but it was all underneath stuff and he had some huge drops. I think teams took away what he was made him most dangerous this year. His main weapon is speed. Doesn't have great hands. There are very few receivers in the history of the NFL that you should pay that kind of money. HIll isn't worth it when you factor in his age, the fact that defenses are taking away certain things, and it prevents you from improving areas of the team that need help. The numbers he put up are numbers other WRs can put up in KC as well.
Hardman has speed. If they sign Valdes- Scantling he has speed. Then add in Smith-Schuster and Kelce and they have a much more balanced attack.

Oh it's definitely a major hit but as we saw in the 2021 Super Bowl, if you can't protect Mahomes speed doesn't matter. 30 Mill can get you protection and other tools.

At Davante Adams level.
Packers got 22 and 53
Chiefs got 29 and 50
50 to 53 is a 7th or a future 6th up grade so the question is could the chiefs acquire 22 for 29 a 4th and 7th this year and a 4th and 6th next year. I'm not a draft expert by any means but moving up seven spots in the first round seems more like a couple 2s or a 2 and a 3.

Hardman had a single game over a hundred yards last year in the last game of the regular season, against a team that was out of the playoff picture. He only topped 75 yards one other time. You can make an argument that Byron Pringle was a more effective receiver for the Chiefs last year.

And Hill's bad hands are kind of overstated. His drop rate was a little over 4% last year. 79 other receivers had a worse rate, including Travis Kelce who was about double Hill.

It's a huge hit to the offense no doubt, but at that cost no way the Chiefs should have signed him. Gotta hit on the draft picks and make adjustments to the offense to suit the change. Hopefully they have a plan to add some defensive help.

I am more happy than sad that Hill is gone. He is crazy talented, but with all the holes they have on defense I am gland they are not giving him that kind of money. If they let Matheu and Hill go, they can afford to plug quite a few holes or add a lot more quality depth. They also have quite a few draft picks too. With the draft being so deep at WR, may not be as bad as in other years. I am also not a fan of Hill's attitude (in terms of celebrations). He could have easily got flagged for taunting multiple times. His off the field history isn't great either. I just wish they let Frank Clark go. He really declined this year and commands a huge salary.

I guess if you're already thinking retirement it's true but I think I'd rather play with Mahomes and the chiefs org vs what is in Miami.
I think Hills decision was strictly financial. He was going to get the most he could out of his big payday.

No doubt this will hurt our offense, Hill was an incredible playmaker. But I agree we got a lot for him and made the best of the situation.

Overall I’m worried about how this off-season has gone so far… we keep losing key players. But we are set up to have a big draft. We could use a couple big free agent signings to go with it.

Loved what Hill brought to the offense, but the Chiefs just could not afford to pay him 30 million a year and then address other issues on the team. The 22 million they offered was a fair deal for both sides, but once Adams got his deal, Hill had to top it, and it priced the Chiefs out of the market, so they let him work out a trade and took the picks.
If the Chiefs can draft like last year this will be a great move for the future, if not, it could be the moment the Chiefs come back to the pack in the NLF's toughest division.

So dumb. He replaced Hills production hen he was out was the point. Of course he isn’t going to get that production when Hill is on the field.
Hill has one amazing skill but lacks in a lot of other areas. Mahomes and the Reid made him a star. Let’s see how he does without them.

How did the Patriots stay on top so long? Moves like this. You can’t overpay for guys because it hurts the whole team. The offense will be fine. They need to fix the defense.
