NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Dear Rashee Rice:

Pretty much guarantees that KC and Rice will not be working on a contract extension after this season. Just how much trouble does a player like him need to make before he is no longer welcome in the building and the team moves on?

Can pretty much bet the NFL will suspend him again too as this surely violates their conduct code and he's a repeat offender now. Very frustrating he can't stay out of trouble especially since the Chiefs aren't exactly loaded at WR

Technically he wasn't arrested again. He violated the terms of his deal by testing positive for THC. The NFL no longer suspends players for testing positive for THC. There's really nothing new to suspend him on since this 30-day jail sentence was always going to have to be served as part of his plea deal.

That being said, what an idiot.

Unfortunately Worthy looked like trash last year too even when he came back. I saw nothing in him to believe he's ever even capable of being decent like he was his rookie year.

Dear Rashee Rice:

He must be a real pain in the ass if they are giving him 30 days for that type of violation too. Thats generally something that would get you a slap on the wrist. All the dude has to due is transfer his probation to Missouri and get a med card and he good. What a ******* idiot.

Totally stupid on his part, but the NFL does not even test the players for marijuana any longer. But Rice should have realized he was on prohibition and how the league things right or wrong, does not fly with Texas.

Yeah he was on probation and it was Texas. He should have used the interstate compact agreement and transferred his probation to Missouri. He probably would have been fine if that happened and he had a med card. I know several people on probation that can smoke pot legally because they have med cards. Its entirely possible that the terms of his probation forbid that no matter where was given where his charges originated but highly unlikely. I am surprised that Texas went ahead and violated him for that and sent him to jail as opposed to some sort of treatment. Like I said he must be a real pain in the ass attitude wise and what not. WIth them being that strict hes lucky they even let him leave the state honestly.

The state of Texas wanted to make Rice an example, to keep others in line. You can't really blame them, they are upholding the law of their state, and he doesn't play for the Cowboys or Texans. If he ever suits up for the Chiefs again, he better have one hell of a year or they will walk away from him.

He violated the terms of his probation, that's all there really is to it. It has nothing to do with the legality of what he partook in. If his probation included a no alcohol clause (which for many offenses they often do) he would have been in violation if he was caught drinking. And based on what has been presented in the news, it doesn't sound like he was arrested for weed, he failed a drug test which put him in violation. He is not serving any new jail time; they just are making him serve his delayed 30 day for the original offense immediately.

If Texas really wanted to make an example of him. he never would have only gotten 30 days that he could serve over a 5-year period. He got entitled rich person with a good lawyer treatment and manage to screw that up.

Going to be very difficult to send a person away for 5 years after failing a drug test. No doubt that being an NFL player helped him, but its that was anyone else, they would not have gotten a 5 year sentence for a first offense of breaking his probation. If he really had gotten favorable treatment, they would have warned him again and sent him on his way or made him pay a fine.

In my opinion, KC should start him on the PUP and let him come back in week six, after the bye.
The Athletic yesterday said that if Mahomes is playing a certain amount in the off season in OTA's and does not reinsure the knee, they cannot put him on the PUP list to start the season. They made it sound like if he was doing X amount of work, then they would be forced to NOT put him on the list. I suppose they could say he had a relapse, but do they want to have him sit out the first 6 weeks, when he could be ready to go in 2 or 4 weeks into the season. They will try to play it week by week, but it's looking like he is going to be ready to go at least in the first month of the season, at least.
