NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

was watching the pregame and suddenly it went backto the vb game. way it ended was not pretty but preseason
The first units on both sides of the ball had it rolling, that is what mattered. Going 0-3 in the preseason is not great, but in the grand scheme of things it means nothing. Chiefs have a lot of talent, and cuts are going to be difficult, they are going to lose a lot of talent players because they just do not have room on the roster for them. Was really impressed with Simmons the new left tackle, he was everything they have been saying and then some. Really need to find another running. back somewhere, outside of the that its a Super Bowl winning roster.

When they announced they were dating I guessed it wouldn't last 6 months. Boy was I wrong. They seem genuinely happy and my guess is Travis is retiring soon either after this season or next depending on how this season goes I guess and she is 35 and has said she wants kids so the clock is kinda ticking for them to start a family here soon.

I think we can start to safely assume that this will be his final season.

I kinda think there is a good chance of that too especially if the Chiefs win the super bowl. He supposedly has dropped 25 pounds in the offseason to hopefully regain some of the speed he lost last season so it also would not surprise me if he has a better season and thinks about 1 more year if he does. I kinda think Taylor enjoys the whole experience of going to his games too and it's one of those things with an athlete that you can retire before you really are ready to and you can never get those years back once you do that. Everyone is different but you gotta live in the moment when it's happening and not regret possibly missing out on something later in life because you hung it up too soon. Everyone thought Jason was hanging it up going into the 2022 season but he surprised most by coming back for 1 more year and he was already pretty banged up from all the years playing OL that he had every reason not to.

I dunno, people keep asking Andy Reid when he is going to retire from coaching and I remember Bradshaw telling him 2 years ago after they won the SB that as long as he has a QB like Mahomes and it's still fun for him he hopes he keeps coaching awhile longer. Kelce and Mahomes have a pretty good friendship too so nothing will surprise me either way really.

I would really be shocked if Kelsey comes back next season, the pod cast with his brother has exploded in popularity, just signed a $100 million dollar deal for three years. What more can he accomplish by playing another year after this one. He always seemed like the type that wants to go out at the top of this game, instead of one of those that hang around a few more years to build up the stats. Play one final season, show everyone once again he is the best in the business and then ride off into the sunset know you won at least 3 SB and the HOF will be calling in five years.

Things can change but according to this article released today sure sounds like this season is it for Kelce:

He's got a couple of milestones he can reach this season. He's only around 900 yards behind Witten for second all time by a TE, and that would place him in the top 20 all time. 75 catches puts him past TO for 8th and 91 puts him past Tim Brown for 7th. He needs 4 regular season TDs to pass Priest Holmes for the KC total regular season touchdown record and only 10 points for the non-kicker record. He needs 3 playoff TDs to pass Jerry Rice for playoff TDs.

He accomplishes most of that, including potentially another SB ring, I don't see how he doesn't call it a career. HIs contract also runs out after this year. I don't know how KC could say no if he wanted to come back for another one, but he he'll probably save them the trouble.

I think this will be Travis’s last season too. For the reasons already mentioned ruined. Additionally, with him engaged I can see him maybe wanting to move past his football career and in to family mode, like his brother Jason.

Also, with Taylor being a musician and traveling a lot, this will allow him to travel with Taylor and avoid conflicting schedules. Which I think leads to a lot of failed celebrity marriages.

Frankly I was a little surprised Kelce came back for the 2025 season. I think just about everyone understands this season is the Last Ride season for 87, regardless of the outcome.

Sucks to be a future HOF that marries a hot billionaire. Dude almost got kicked off Cincy FB team.

I figured Rice would get 4-6 games. I took him in my fantasy draft hoping it would be the lesser end of that, now I just hope I can pull off a trade to add another WR for some depth as my WR room already wasn't too impressive after Lamb and Rice.
