I agree. Been discussed 100's of times - people are getting bigger and fatter. Out stadium is great compared to others, specifically squawks and fuskers. They are awful.

In a few weeks, it could be a 2 wheeled road trip, one which I am beyond ready for! Having to see my bikes covered in the garage every day hurts a little...
Issue with that is you would see a drop in capacity in the stadium, and a drop in capacity means less ticket revenue. I could see a situation where they replace the bench style seating with the back rests around the 50 yard line with the fold up chair seating, but they would likely have to offset price of those seats due to revenue losses you'd see with a drop in capacity.
People are much more likely to pay more with those seats. I think what you do is bowl in the north side in combination with that. Then you don’t really lose capacity and you can raise prices.
I'd agree with that move. I think that having an all-seat stadium would much more aesthetically pleasing compared to the current all-bench, but it's crazy to see what kind of capacity drop there would be.
For example, Lambeau Field has all-bench seating in their lower main bowl with a total capacity of around 80,000. They've said that if they replaced the bench seating with chair-style seating, the capacity would drop by 10-12 thousand. For us, that would probably be around a 6-7 thousand drop, roughly, if we did the whole thing.
I'd love at least a lower bowled in section of bleacher seating in the north end, coupled with chairbacks on the east and west lower sidelines. That would mean capacity is roughly the same but the stadium would look a ton better and the money folks are more comfortable.
My wife wants the comfy seats and wants to sit in the end zone. I want to see the game, and the end zone seats are not as conducive to seeing the game as I'd like. But we would have no issue with say $800-$900 seats that were comfortable and in our current location. I think there has to be a market for that.
I love dreaming just as much as the next person but Am I the only one that is thrown off by the all this talk about the north end zone being bowled in as we aren’t even done with the current set of upgrades?
I think the north endzone upgrades leave me wanting more because what they're doing to the stadium still seems incomplete. The Jacobson Building and the north end video board just look temporary and are not aesthetically pleasing.
The folks who have to work up in the video board for ESPN during broadcasts say its one of the worst places they have to work in the entire profession because its essentially 4 ladder flights of carrying equipment or even bathroom breaks.
Tell them to just pinch a loaf off on the band and see if they can land it in a tuba then
Following this NEZ update- the stadium seating is pretty settled for a while with any additional growth being balcony seating in the NE corner. That is so far away it almost is not worth typing. I could see a permanent adding of LED Boards along the east sideline walls one day given that we had rentals there this past season
I can see a new press tower/ suites one day but not any time soon even tho it would look cool. Replacing the NEZ board is probably something in the next few years to deal with as it glitched several times this past year. I would love to see the boards expanded as far out as they can go and taking down the logos of the I-State and the Big 12 conference- while knowing the speakers in the NEZ occupy some of that space. I would greatly enjoy a more enhanced video board and I am sure our sponsors would appreciate dedicated space as well. Similar to this OU board below.
I would love to add concrete around the NEZ board supports with the clocks mounted on those supports and the second story of the Jacobson Bldg peeled back one office for outdoor suites similar to the first level. This was actually in one of the renditions of the NEZ project and it looked awesome. I would love to improve the fencing around the stadium with iron fencing and limestone brick pillars mixed in. Improving the fencing, sidewalks around the stadium and a few internal improvements like video boards would improve the experience even more.

I feel like the Jacobson Building is a turd we just keep polishing. Its out of place. It isn't aesthetically pleasing. The video board tacked onto it makes it look even worse. I wish we'd just start over on that site.
I totally agree with you. That said, ISU ain't paying to destroy it so how can we improve it? I am thinking suites facing the stadium field to mask it just a bit. Peeling back the second level to may make it feel more like a part of the stadium assuming that peel matches the grade of incline on the NEZ hills. I think the concrete pillars would go a long way also. Arkansas made a building work on an endzone for years. We can do this !!!
As we continue to see donations for these projects come in and we address deficiencies we’ve had in the past more aesthetic projects like this will happen. I think within the next ten years they bowl in the north end zone and completely redo it.
No way- Jamie loves himself some hillsides. You will get beer in the stadium before Jamie is getting rid of them. He called them "iconic" one time.
We simply do not have the money to destroy a 25 year old building that we have poured millions into for upgrades- including this year. Then the cost of a new building? I mean, I would love to see a new NEZ as much as the next guy, I hate the Jacobson Bldg. That is not something I will likely see done in my lifetime. It certainly won't be done on JP's watch
I wish that while they are pouring, they would take the concrete at least halfway up those scoreboard supports. That said, I do think that filling in those hillsides some and the limestone pillars along the back of the hillsides will help the overall look of the NEZ. The Jacobson will still looks small, but it won't be so open...in fact it won't look open at all.
