Symmetry OCD. Dislike of the "paper airplane." Aspiring to overtake Kinnick in capacity. I'd prefer we invest in a larger press box first. Maybe one day we could "bowl in" just the NE corner with a balcony level running the length of the endzone and leave just the NW hillside open.
Perhaps rather than projecting, we could go with “allow more of a burgeoning Cyclone fandom to enjoy the game, and bring in more revenue at the same time”.

Screw this weird fascination with Kinnick and all things Hawkeye. I’d like to think that with a growing alumni base, a top program and proximity to Des Moines, we could nudge up to 65K before long, then eventually perhaps top out around 80K.

I’m assuming a second deck can built above the SEZ club, for example.

This must be an awfully frustrating day to work on scraping all the snow off the roof like they have been.

Agreed. You would think it would be brutal to run that backhoe today. Maybe for demo work it wouldn't be that bad though.
I've know heavy machinery operators that said it was miserable because you are just sitting there while at least the other workers are constantly moving about.

Keep Trice the size that it is. If expansion is ever warranted, then its time for the Press Box to expand. More money could be brought in through box sales than much of the seating gained by having horrible site lines being next to the Jacobson Building. The hillsides need to stay because its part of tradition. Its how younger families can still attend and helps to create the next generation of fans.

P.S. Would love to eventually see the concourses widened and the concession stands pushed back.
I think that was done just a few years ago. The concourses are much wider than they were originally. That being said, it would be nice to have even more space, but that would have to mean tearing down and rebuilding all the restrooms/concessions stands again.

I don't know that concourse width is a big issue at JTS. There is a lot of traffic, but I would bet that we have more room than most. Adding the walkway behind the Jacobson connecting east and west should help a little just because anyone walking to the other side can go either direction now.

The next major improvement to JTS should be expanding the press box to the entire length of the west side of the stadium, and adding corporate boxes, and more high dollar areas like the Sukup area. That is where the donation dollars are.
After that, then expand a 2nd deck on the east side or bowl in the North endzone.

If the demand for suite rentals is there, then absolutely it needs to be the next move. A press tower that size would be likely over a $100m project, so it wouldn't make sense to do it if the suites will remain empty. That would also provide for a huge renovation to the west concourse again. Shoot, the tower could also be a place for them to move administrative offices to if they decide to bowl in the north endzone.

The most likely (by far) next project at Jack Trice is expanding the Jack Trice Club or adding suites on the sides of the Jack Trice Club between levels on the east side. A major revenue generating project and significantly less expensive than a press box expansion.

A question for anyone of you degenerates with more construction/destruction knowledge than myself:

Is there a reason they're being so dainty about razing Olsen? It feels like they're very meticulously going room by room, removing the roof first and then taking down the walls. What's to stop them from just bulldozing the whole thing into one large ruble pile?
