JT Toppin - torn ACL

Feel for the guy. Hope it doesn't damage his future career, he's a force on the court.

Rough for Tech too. Lose your best guy, but also they were not deep with him. Mac will have to reinvent the team for the NCAA to an extent. BUT they do have 3 really good guards in Anderson, Atwell, and Petty. IDK maybe you just switch to a lot of small ball and let the chips fall where they may.

That sucks. I wish him the best. Hope to see him in the NBA someday soon.

Too bad for the team and for him, especially considering it's his senior year. I don't know that he would've been a lottery pick, kind of a tweeter, like Fizer), but I suppose this will affect his draft stock.

I heard Kelvin Sampson talking a few days ago about the very long basketball season and he said Nov/Dec/Jan were all about getting better as a team and Feb was all about trying to keep everyone healthy. So true.

Crossing my fingers that our 8 man rotation stays healthy through March. We're due this season.

He's a junior - saw some speculation it might be in his best interest to redshirt next year and come back in 2027 as basically highest paid player in sport (which is what TTU was going to make him next season if he didnt tear his ACL)

Not being ghoulish about Toppin one bit, but suddenly ISU's path to winning out the regular season seems much more doable. You still gotta win the games and, being ISU, we're always vulnerable to a nut punch like TCU. But I see BYU, TTU and Zona short-handed and I like our chances at getting at least a share of the conference title. Which would be awesome.

It is hard to fathom the hat-trick of horrors McCasland endured last night:

Drop a game to one of the worst teams in the league, lose your star player for the season….and shake hands with a Hurley.

Presumably they’ll need to pay him good money to redshirt? I’d assume someone will if they don’t.

ACL's are like hangnails. I don't see it affecting his draft stock significantly. Might drop a few spots but the ACL won't keep teams from drafting him.
