Joshua Jefferson Comparision.

Something I've been thinking.... does Haliburton talk the higher ups into taking Jefferson in the draft?

They will likely be very near at the top of the draft at which point they're probably in the Peterson, Dybansta, Boozer kind of territory.

Most mocks I have seen with Jefferson currently have him late first/early second. It is possible that the Pacers could take a flyer on him early in the second round if he is still there.

So you're saying they take Dybansta or Boozer every time over Jefferson? Hali is already the man so not sure they take Dybansta. So then is Boozer that much better than Jefferson?

there is not a single GM in the history of the NBA - past or present - that would take JJ over any of those three players. Also, Hali and Dybansta don't play the same position.

I think they're similar height, neither really fast twitch athletes (alhtough JJ stronger and faster and higher leaper), great basketball IQ, good 3 point shooting (Niang probably better), good passers for a non-guard, good footwork, sneaky around the basket (not traditional "post up" kind of moves), etc.
Yes, but Niang prepped with Nerlens Noel. Every other argument is just wasting oxygen.

Boozer, Dybansta and Peterson are all 18 years old. Joshua Jefferson is 22. There's your difference.

As much as I like Jefferson, I'm not sure how well his skill set will translate to the NBA. Hopefully he can find a role and have a long career. But to be fair, I felt the same with Brock Purdy. I didn't anticipate him being a top QB. I always thought it would be great if he could have a long career as a backup. Sometimes when you see an athlete every game you notice the faults and take their strengths for granted.

Maybe in round 2. The Pacers are going to have a top 3 pick. They are going to pair a monster with Hali and create a 10 year dynasty.

If the Pacers are picking Top 3, you absolutely take Dybantsa or Boozer. Dybantsa is a wing and would be a perfect running mate for Haliburton. Boozer is producing just as well as JJ and is 4 years younger. Daryn Peterson would also be a perfect running mate for Haliburton.

Yes. That's not even close to being a debate in regards to the draft. Boozer is probably the current leader for player of the year, too. Not that, that matters much but it does when it's a freshman who already projects really well at the next level.

Jefferson will be lucky to be a top 25 pick let alone lottery pick. Don't shoot the messenger it's just how the NBA values young and uber athletic over old and productive.

I need to see the rest of the season and the tournament before I start discussing JJeff with the likes of Fizer and Niang. Those are the two greatest to ever do it in a Cyclone uniform IMO. Win the Big 12 and make a Final 4 and Jefferson has a chance to go down in lore.

I also found it interesting TJ went out of his way to annoint Lipsey the best PG in the country. Win the Big 12 and make a Final 4 and Lipsey will go down as an absolute legend.

For comparison sake, Joshua is only one year younger than Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Josh Giddey who all seem like they’ve been in the NBA forever.
