Sideline orthopedic tests can certainly suggest ACL tears. sometimes initial swelling can limit motion which makes the orthopedic tests showing false negative.
Keep in mind there are partial tears and full thickness tears. Pain levels also can vary. Most can still walk and move , especially with partial tears.
It’s best to wait a couple of days for the swelling to subside to get the MRI so you can see the structures better.
