Jeremiah Francis, an Ohio Native Freshman PG is leaving my Tar Heels, which i'm not happy about.

He was a bright spot Carolina, and honestly kind of shocked he's leaving. Don't let the Stat Line fool you, he's going to be a good College PG. I'd love to see Iowa State get involved.

Was a Top 50 High School Player before injury in 2017 that I just got healthy from this year. Kid has LOTS of Upside moving forward.

Maybe we can get some luck on the Transfer market!

Put in a good word for us lol

He's a hard nose player, very blue collar type player. My wife and I always talk about trading players who'd be better at our other school... We both figured him as an Iowa State type player.

This I believe is a Free Article, but really highlights the type of kid he is.

As far as Game.... He's a bulldog, plays a lot bigger than his 6'0 height, but he was still decent at getting into the lane. He's was still rehabbing his injury and working on conditioning. Didn't get to see the best of him this year, which could be said a lot about Carolina all the way around.

Quick somebody tell coach.

I'm sure Francis is a good player and might be a good transfer for us, and this is not a criticism of him at all. I know nothing about him.

But early this morning Ben Maller on Fox Sports Radio was talking about all the phrases people use to describe players or prospective players on sports teams who maybe just aren't the most skilled or talented. Unfortunately, as Iowa State fans, we all have fallen for these phrases over the years and I think you just have to laugh.

I can't remember them all, but it was things like, "He's a high-motor guy." "He's a tough-nosed kid." "He comes to play." "This kid has tons of upside." "He has flown under the radar." "Diamond in the rough!" "Faster than he looks."

Let's face it, we are not a blue blood program, blue collar maybe. But it just struck me as funny how most fans of most teams get their hopes up, hoping these phrases will turn out to be true. And to be fair, quite often they are true. I'd say Mike Rose is a high-motor guy and flew under the radar. But man, can he play!!! Hakeem Butler? David Montgomery? Tyrese Haliburton? We just rarely get the "sure thing." But, I think it makes us appreciate our kids more when they do turn out to be real contributors.

Agree. thats why I see Francis as a kid who can come in and do that at ISU, where the fans appreciate it and have some patience. I love that about Iowa State.

Francis is less of a Diamond in the rough, and more of a guy thats still got a lot to proove to himself.

His original top ten

Jeremiah Francis names top 10: Dayton, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue, TCU and West Virginia

I would hope we'd have a pretty good chance considering Prohm's track record with PG's. Add to that the possibility of him moving in to start right away and get mega minutes, and maybe we move up a little further...

Plus, he'll be moving to one of the best conferences in the country with a lot of exposure...

Love your point about stepping up from UNC to finally see exposure with Iowa State... gee I wish the ACC could match the national prowess of the ole mighty B12. Lol.

I think the increased role is a positive for him joining ISU. We will see, I doubt something like this works out... but I do see him as a 3 year player who would def be a settling presence for the young team.

He will be able to share the experience of playing in real basketball atmospheres... not something Big12 players get a chance to do.

Did he play in real atmospheres? Seems like he was on the bench on a bad team.

I know some of this is in jest, but seriously....UNCs bad year was not this kids fault... he was injured during preseason conditioning, Came in Midseason because he had to replace an injured Cole Anthony. I’m sure most fans are aware that conditioning is an important factor when playing PG for Roy. His playing time decreased when Anthony came back. He needs conditioning and time to train before playing competitive minutes.

Real Note ACC > B12 19 years out of 20 on a national level.
