From that LSU forum:
"Apparently Jefferson and Dedan are good friends also. Both grew up in Las Vegas"

Although joining a friend doesn't seem very important in the NIL era.

This could be said about spending money on many, many things. Why buy tickets to games when you could watch on TV? Why donate to the athletic department? And to an extreme, why donate to cancer research or that MS walk next weekend because your $100 isn’t going to cure cancer.

With that mindset, nothing is “worth it”. But if you can get 1000s of people to not be so selfish asking “what’s in it for me”, it absolutely has an impact. Just like donating to WeWill does. ISU has too many fans that think like you which is why we are in the bottom 1/3 compared to our peers.
Pro sports are better than this - contracts and caps. ISU is not going to compete with bigger schools with mega donors and more fans.

Give it another yes or so and any SEC/B10 will be able to buy our best player annually just for the fun of it.

Then "JUST" watch the product? Wearing a bit of a high hat there aren't you?

Remember when this site began with trying to get Wayne Morgan fired and GMAC hired? Remember the saying from those same people on this site of "would rather lose with dignity than win the Rucker Park way" when is was apparent GMAC wasn't going to be as successful as Wayne? What happened to all that dignity?

All head coaches before TJ were expected to do more with less against certain schools that were doing NIL before there was NIL. ISU has never been on an equal playing field. And that never stopped you or anyone else on this site from complaining ad nauseum about recruits or results. Especially with Prohm. Now it's put up or shut up? I don't remember anyone before NIL saying to people that if you don't buy a ticket or donate to the ADepartment......you can't say a word. Because that's a s***** way to try and create a fanbase, right?

So.....sorry. If all those other coaches were all expected to do more with less..........so is TJ. And so far he is doing a great job. If he slips and has a bad year or two.....so what. Most everyone who is an ISU fan knows what ISU is up against. And it's been like that for years. The fact the "king makers" finally have their guy sitting in the chair doesn't change a thing. What was that saying on this site when harsh criticism reigned down on Prohm every day of every year........."it comes with the job". And I'm sure TJ will do just fine no matter what happens. However, the "high hats" keep telling people sit down and shut up.......well, good luck ISU.
Trying to equate places like KU and Arizona paying players in the pre-NIL days as remotely similar to the current environment is drastically missing the mark.

As much as people like to joke or honestly believe NIL is just the same as before just Out in the open, it’s a completely different world, and ISU is at a bigger disadvantage than it’s been since pre -Orr.

Look at the biggest alleged cases pre NIL like the KU Adidas deals or Deandre Ayton. Those were nothing compared to the typical NIL deals now.

Fred and Prohm had to compete against offers where guys were getting maybe $10k and risking ineligibility. TJ is competing against offers above board where another team can offer a couple or a few hundred thousands more.

Not to mention we had Matt A, and there May have been a few bags as well.

But you underestimating the deficit TJ is facing. It’s many $100thousands and occasionally millions.

Bill Snyder and Kirk Ferentz are two obvious examples. And both were rumored continuously to be looking elsewhere, especially early in each coach's tenure. Those two are also guys who MC frequently mentions as mentors, and coaches he looks up to FWIW.
Snyder had multiple NFL offers back in the 90s.

Maybe Yormack can package the BIG 12 basketball separate for big dollars. Got to try and keep up with SEC/BIG.

Matty A gave college me $100K just to deliver pizzas to Fred’s youth camps. I can only imagine what I would’ve got if I could play basketball, too.

I was never going to believe Jefferson was staying here until I saw him come out of the tunnel for the first game this year.

He is SERIOUSLY talented IMO…. NBA level talent with the right coaching. I will be pleasantly surprised if he remains a Cyclone, but wouldn’t ever predict it.

Wìthout question!
