I'm sitting there last night watching the F4 and as much as I would have loved to have been watching ISU, I wouldnt have even paid 300$/yr if that's all it would have taken to get them to that point. I could easily swing that but I just have other real life priorities. Yeah I'd rather take a week off than get ISU a good player. Some fans:
I can’t believe how incompetent the staff is at getting the players we need to compete for championships.
Also some fans:
Oh that takes money….well between my Starbucks monthly dues, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube TV and $500 dollar bat for my son’s 8 & Under travel team I cannot afford to give any money.
And that is your right. Enjoy your week off bud.I'm sitting there last night watching the F4 and as much as I would have love to have been watching ISU, I wouldnt have even paid 300$/yr if that's all it would have taken to get them to that point. I look forward to 2 every year. I think everyone should do 4. I'm not saying I don't want ISU to win. I'm just saying Id get more satisfaction taking a few weeks off and going on vacation than watching ISU play. I just get more mental satisfaction out of the otherAnd that is your right. Basically, Kentucky Basketball under Coach Cal.NCAA tournament used to be my favorite sporting event. It’s really hard to care. As a kid Christmas Eve was my favorite night of the year. The first Friday of the tourney was a close second.
A bunch of one year unrestricted free agents with no cap, it’s just really hard to give a ****. I’ll still probably watch ISU and be a fan, but I just don’t have much emotional investment anymore.
From LSU writer after Sutton the kid from Omaha commits
This likely finalizes the bulk of the work LSU does in the front court, though another move could be made with Daimion Collins entering the transfer portal earlier this week.
Here's the thing LSU brings back Jalen Reed a big forward who average 12 a game and 6.5 boards. He will start again next year. Sutton will also look to start.
They also signed a center from Mississippi State.
Front court minutes seem to be taken. Especially at the 4 and 5.
Don't picture Reed or Sutton coming off the bench. Nor do I see Jefferson doing that
Guess will see
I’m assuming this isn’t a done deal and we are still negotiating, so I’m not sure these comments are timely. Longer this plays out, better for us. He does have to look at fit, and here he’d be one of the main, if not the main component. LSU bringing in lots of guys could end up a **** show. Let’s see how it plays out.Lol, this is why I'm not even that upset of he decides to take an SEC bag. He's a good player but his MO was trying to go 1 on 4 and then getting ball stripped most of the time. If he was actually 3 million good then he would have stepped up and we wouldn't have gotten blown out by Ole Miss.
It adds depth. Shows you how much money some schools have to spend that they can throw that away on someone who may not even start. Just shows you they can pay more for backups than we can for startersAlso don’t make much sense to spend 3 million on positions you already have covered.
Or the coach can hang around do it his way, have a nice life and show what a GREAT coach he truly is. I am not one of those people who think coaches should always be chasing the NC trophy. It's an empty dream for most of them. A waste of time and happiness. Some of the all-time great and beloved MBB and CFB coaches never won a NC. Johnny Orr @ Iowa State to name one. Hayden Fry @ Iowa to name another.(Wispers…um, coaches won’t stick around much longer if they can’t compete)
You know what, this isn’t a horrible idea. Support JWalt and Heft and catch the highlights on Twitter all while not giving money to the $EC/B1G beast that is ESPN/Fox.Got rid of ESPN 2 months ago. Don’t miss it at all. Worst case, I will listen to Walters on the radio once or twice a year, then watch the replay on YouTube .
Current NIL/portal process is synonymous with SNAFU FUBAR and BOHICA.
So I’m being hired as CEO of Wells Fargo or larger? That isn’t apples to apples. A typical loan officer is in that 100-120 last I knew. So tripling it would be 300k, and no I wouldn’t change for that.So now consider you have one year left until you retire. That bank comes in and offers you $3MM. I think you’re jumping.
Of course CF will leave it up. They get more revenue for traffic.I appreciate the optimism but this thread still being up should give you all the “insider info” you need
Exactly, essentially we'll either have Jefferson and zero other impact transfers now or Jefferson will be gone and we are looking to spend the rest of our NIL on a replacement. The other problem now is if we keep Jefferson I assume we just spent that big NIL money on him instead of getting another difference maker. These freshman better be ready to ball
The main reason guys like Hayden Fry stayed at Iowa instead of taking the Texas or USC job(like it's reported he did in the 80s) is because they were scared of the challenge of the new job. If Hayden thought going 9-3 or so at USC would have kept him employed he would have left too. Johnny Orr had no offers to go anywhere. He went over .500 in the Conference how many times? The money wasn't good enough at the time for them to be risk takers they are today.Or the coach can hang around do it his way, have a nice life and show what a GREAT coach he truly is. And they are both BELOVED by their fan-bases and led happy, nice lives in Ames and Iowa City - which is my point. The main reason guys like Hayden Fry stayed at Iowa instead of taking the Texas or USC job(likes it's reported he did in the 80s) is because they were scared of the challenge of the new job.
