The greatest noisemakers with a bowl behind them in an endzone would be the perfect place for them. Be huge during OT as well.

I'm far from an audio engineer. But wouldn't that be a farther distance for sound to travel (end-zone to end-zone) versus sideline to sideline and result in less noise being "trapped"?

Distance is probably less of a factor than direction and the concrete\metal behind them reflecting sound

Jack Trice will not be expanded until we sell the stadium out with the only tickets discounted from the good seating prices are in the student section.

I think an end zone seat at OU and Texas costs the same as the 50 yard line, the only thing that changes is the donation level. That is how you get ticket revenue from $14M a year to $20M+ at Iowa State.

Im not sure I understand what you are saying, but...
That already has and does happen, Im not sure what you are talking about really selling out without discount tickets though. As far as same prices around the stadium all you have to do is look at the season ticket prices for different sections to see that different areas of the stadium have different prices, end zone corners are not the same as 50 yard, etc.

I heard the same thing 10 years ago and we still expanded, now we sell out the same, but at an expanded capacity, and now our non sell out games are just shy of the capacity at 61,500 vs when they were just shy of the capacity at 55k just we added 5k more people at different levels, mostly higher value seats, which opened seats in lower value for new fans.

When you add high value seats it frees up seats at every level below.
Again I dont see us need a 100k stadium, but I do see us possibly needing 10-15k total through the next 1-2 renovations, including more club sections, more suites, and a variety of other seating, plus the addition of stadium seats replacing the bleachers at some point in areas of the stadium. Which will lower those areas capacity, so when we add other areas will help offset the seating losses.

This is dependent on a lot of factors, but no matter what you have to continue to upgrade facilities or you get left behind. We dont want to ever go back to where we were a couple decades ago. I think you have seen the days of going 30-50 years without some stadium reno are long gone.

What I am saying is as the demand for higher priced tickets increase there will be fewer seats available for the lower priced seats, including the mobile pass tickets. As success continues it could eventually get to where the full priced tickets take over the whole stadium and where you sit will be based on what you contribute, not what you pay for the ticket.

It is already like this at Texas and OU, and I think it is close at OSU. Sorry if you don't like it, but it could very well happen at Iowa State some day, other than the hillsides.

Already the case bud, sorry. Suites and club sections sold out with a waiting list have been for several years. Directors, Victory, Captain, Gold, Cardinal level, sold out.....how do I know because I donated at gold level this year, but because I had to wait and donate late, I had to pick my seats late. And the best seats I could get were at a couple spots in States or otherwise in Century. All sections above that were sold out, except for a few random singles. Otherwise there were only a few left at the time in century or some in non donor. So I guess we are ready if that is your criteria.

It appears we will be just shy of 50k season tix sold this year, where do you think they are going? that leaves about 11k seats total for visitors, (required) on field and press people, band cheer and dance, (they count in the total capacity) and the other tickets the are required to hold for other singles.

Say what you will but we are past what you are saying is a requirement. Even though I still think you are incorrect in what is a requirement and what is not, to expand.

And we already sit by what we contribute.

Obviously the vastly improved program is a big reason for the improved attendance, but even when Danny Mac had his best teams, we struggled to average over probably 45k. I remember going to the game against Missouri where a win would have put us in the Big 12 title game. This is the game where we missed like a 21 yard field goal to win it. Granted, it was a cold game, but nonetheless, it was to win the Big 12 North and go to the title game. I got tickets on the day of the game for the lower level at around the 30 yard line and our section was not even full. I feel pretty confident saying that the attendance had to be in the mid 30s or so.

When I was at ISU, you could basically drive 30 miles West and be in Husker land, and then 30 miles North, East, or South and be in Hawkeye land.

I don't live in Iowa anymore but have a lot of family there. And it seems to me that when I go back I see a lot more Iowa State fans wearing gear than I ever did growing up.

For those of you who live in Iowa, do you feel like the percentage of residents who support ISU has changed significantly? I've had a friend tell me that the Des Moines metro has at least as many ISU fans as Hawkeye ones now, which would have been unthinkable back in the early 90s when I was in school. The idea of Iowa State having a season when they averaged 60k+ in attendance would have been completely fanciful to me 25 years ago no matter how good the football team was. Its fantastic to see all of the support.
"For those of you who live in Iowa, do you feel like the percentage of residents who support ISU has changed significantly? "

Yes, all over the state. I spend 6 months per year in Eastern Iowa and there are many many more people wearing ISU gear here than I've ever seen before. Still about 3:1 TOE advantage but used to be more like 20:1.

We NEED to stop calling for the expansion of a "press box" and start calling for the constriction of the Jack Trice Skyboxes on the Western side of the stadium

Yes, there is no need for a larger "Press Box", a "sky box" with club and suit sections is what we need. On either side dont care which, but if you think about it, sure would be nice for the cameras to look at it when the game is on TV. LOL

Then again build it on both or all the way around ie, Ok St, Michigan etc.

Semantics.

For what it's worth, most of the working areas (radio, TV, ops) need more space also.

I am not going to argue with. What I am saying is next year the Gold section might expand by one section moving the Cardinal over one section and so forth, and knocking out one of the $199 sections disappear. And in the future they will keep expanding the donor section and slowly eliminate the non-donor tickets. Any good AD will sell as many of the higher priced tickets that he/she can. First thing that will happen is the mobile pass tickets will disappear. When they do change people will get an email that says to keep your tickets in a certain section you need to up your donation or move your tickets. It has happened before and it will happen again, and probably soon.

I have been buying tickets for a long time and donor sections are subject to change.

IF stadium capacity wasn't a limiting factor... I've always wondered what the most tickets we could sell for a home game at JTS. Could we get 70k for Iowa or UNI? Maybe 75k? Hell... UI game this fall could probably get 80k if they were priced right.

You have to add premium/club seating if you want to make a NEZ project make financial sense. Adding cheap seats in place of the hillsides won't get ANYWHERE close to paying for the project... Also, a SUKUP family going to put their name on a bleacher project???

SEZ worked because it created a money printer club area. If you want to tear down the Jacobson building.. You are probably looking at a $100M+ plus facility.

Arts/Entertainment Distrcit and Hilton/Scheman renovations are all due before that.
You can add cheap seats and package it in with reworking existing seats into more premium areas. Exactly how that gets done can come in multiple good forms. Something should be done however to grow the premium areas.

I think that percentage arrived 20ish years ago.

I don't know. I graduated high school in Boone in 2000. I feel like there were like 4 fans in the whole school. Boone was weirdly proportioned with a ton of Hawkeye fans, especially considering the proximity to ISU, but even since I've lived in Ankeny there has been a notable shift.

They were supposed to be reset this year but Covid messed things up, so I would assume they pushed it back to next year. They will keep mobile since those are basically fillers and are very limited.
