I have a question: Maya Duckworth was in the net a couple of times, but it was after she hit the ball & coming down from jump; do they not call that a net violation? West Virginia players were really upset about it…

You can live with a few serving errors here and there as long as you’re serving tough and getting your opponent out of rhythm. But when it’s getting down to it at the end of the 5th, they don’t feel great

I'm not a rules expert by any means but I think if it doesn't interfere with play it's not a violation.

Same thought. In the net is the call if a player touches the net when the ball is in play.

Service errors- this team has to serve tough which means a lot of service errors. If we don't serve tough you get a TCU who pummels us because they can run their offense. That said no idea why this team is so yo yo with their intensity. I hope the committee doesn't watch that game just bank the W

Darn, remembered early in the day we had a game and then forgot til 10pm. 6-8pm gets so crazy with young kids. May need to set alarms so I can remember to watch stats at least!

Our already slim chances of a tourney bid definitely goes out the window with a home loss to a bad bad WVU team
No doubt about that, a loss would have been read bad.

It was interesting that CJL didn't even play a DS after the first set, I don't ever recall that during CJL's tenue but that may be a function of playing a 6-2. Perry coming in at MB and Mitchell at OH from the 3rd set on helped flip the match to ISU's favor.

If a player is in the action of playing the ball (hitting, blocking or digging), it's a violation. This includes touching the net while going up or coming down from a hit or block. About the only time you can get away with touching the net is if you graze it accidentally without affecting play or if the ball is on the opponents' side, comes into the net and the net touches you while you are standing there. And you can never touch the top tape without it being a violation.

I noticed a couple that should have been called. WVU had a legit gripe.

This team is good but has 2 major problems. 1) serve 2) receive
I don't think this particular team needs to serve aggressively as they are, but I don't fault them for trying as long as we get enough wins. If those serves get more consistent it will be beneficial for post season. For the time being, however, it allows lesser teams back in and we'll lose games we shouldn't.

The receiving + pass has been pretty bad, putting our good setters in bad situations and limiting offense. This has improved but is still a weakness although less of a concern compared to serving.

For the first time in years we don't have blatant holes in talent. Defense is improving and blocking is actually a thing again.
