That's just terrible. Officials see that all the time, players forcing up a 3 and then either flop into the defender or fall backwards, etc to try to fool the official into a foul. How do they fall for that ****, argh!

Well dang it, entertaining game just a disappointing ending. The ladies sure showed a lot of heart today. No quit in the team just a tough L.

Going to go down as a bad loss. Kinda breaks from the Real Time RPI predictor being accurate for our games lately. They currently predict us eking out a one point win in Manhattan on Wednesday and handily beating the Mountain Momma's in Ames..

Dad-blastic Clones. Texas is doing everything in their power to give somebody the 3rd place slot in KC. They've lost 3 of their last 4 and still have to play TCU & BU on the road, yet they are still ahead of ISU. But the sisters have lost their last 2 as well and now have to go to KST who is coming into their own having won 3 of their last 4. That's not going to be an easy win by any stretch.

Right now it's beginning to look like only 2 teams deserve to be in the NCAA tourney. I'm sure there will be more than 2 but who those 2 are is going to be determined by whoever finishes strong in these last 4 games,

It will be whoever finishes .500 or above in the league and after this I am thinking ISU at 9-9 with hopefully a win or two in KC to get to 18 or 19. Big 12 is weak sauce this year (TCU is 11-3 and can't even get ranked because of the league) but outside of Pac-12/SEC/ Big 10 the rest of the "majors" is sorta weak with teams that would be on the bubble in other years likely getting a solid nod. Man, other than TCU no Big 12 team is even in the others receiving votes category. Woof!

Making my comeback on CycloneFanatic after that one. Been a while since I posted. Don't want to know how long. But that was certainly heartbreaking today. The girls didn't shoot the best. Had a 9 point disadvantage going into the 4th quarter. Battle all the way back. Steal some in-bound passes. Create some turnovers. Bummer of a way to end on a tough call. Grateful, though, the girls and the staff have a lot of class with their reaction and comments after the game. I think we often, as fans, underestimate what it takes to do that.

You could see by Rae's reaction that she got her hand. Got to close out on the arc of the ball, not their hand! She and Maggie carried us in the 4th, too, felt really badly for her.

Looking at the 3 pt percentages of Ash and Kristen vs everyone else, and I wonder about how many teams have a sports psychologist/hypnotist on staff? When we lose, its almost always from putting too much pressure on ourselves. We play better from the underdog, that is CBF's strength as a coach. Coaches could take on a little Phil Jackson zen and we would be a better team.

Randoms:

Felt bad for Johnson who had a great 4th quarter to lead us back into game. She's really found her confidence or stroke for the three this year, 29% in conference last year and 39% this year.

Odd stats from three. Team ended up shooting 50% from downtown for the game so Scott and Joens going 2-12 was more than made up for by the others going a crazy 11-14. Team is still at 39% in league play which is #2 to Baylor's 41% but we shoot and make three times as many. If you are going to shoot way more than anyone else than make the best percentage, which we are doing.

The stat in league play that is a killer is the 20 turnovers a game. Bad stuff there. Insert "Jeez, Boxster, everybody knows that!"

Unqualified Observer Observation: For a team that doesn't press when we do late in games we are behind in it is pretty darn effective, or so it seems.

PS: If you go to game stats at Big 12 in conference the stuff for us is wrong, use Cyclone.com. Not sure what they got thrown in there but it's for 17 games, not the 14 we have actually played in league.

The only path left for ISU to be opposite of Baylor in Kansas City is to win 3 of the last 4, starting in Manhattan Wednesday night.

ISU (7-7) - W at KSU, W vs WVU, W at KU, L vs BU (10-8)
Texas (8-6) - L at TCU, W vs OU, L at BU, W vs OSU (10-8)
KSU (7-7) - L vs ISU, L at BU, W at OSU, W vs KU (9-9)

If it plays out this way, ISU would the #3 over UT by virtue of having swept KSU.
