Is there going to be anyone else that will be tailgating around their vehicle on Friday night/Saturday morning?

This game is a big reason why I donated. It really sucked *** being the guy that didn't go out and party friday night because they were sitting in line to get a tailgate spot. Now I can show up at 5AM and waltz on in.

Is there still parking in the grass to the east of G6? That is around where they have the haunted house for Halloween.

How early will you guys be arriving? We plan on leaving Des Moines at 4 which puts us in Ames around 4:30-5. I'm guessing we won't have issues getting into G7 at all that early.

It is a big pain in the *** to get into the student lot for this game especially.

I hope to be in line shortly before 4AM to park in G4. Last game was our first in that lot and it was a great place to be.

You never know what is appropriate for this game however. The weather will play a big part in how many people are there the night before and early on.

When do you all think the student lots will be ready to go? Will there be a huge line that early?

We're hoping to get home from FAC at around 10 PM Friday night and get everything ready to go with a good night's sleep so we can be out there by 4:30 or 5 AM.

We're staying in Ames friday night, and we'll be trying to coordinate our arrival w/the rest of the vehicles we know in order to get space to set up all the drinking games. My guess is we'll be down there about the same time as you are. And I agree that it should be smooth sailing getting in.

TO EVERYONE WONDERING ABOUT A LINE FOR PUBLIC LOTS:

In 2007 we got in line w/our van around 12:30 AM, and we had to wait in the lot on the north side of S 16th. By the time they let us into G2/3, we were way back in the SW corner. To guarantee a spot in the main public/student lots, I recommend being there at the LATEST at 1:00AM.

This is definitely right.

For those of you who have friends in Ames and/or a second car try and how up Friday evening and get in line then use the second car to go do whatever. Just be sure to return to your car by about 3 AM as I would guarantee the lots open early to clear out the overflow in the other lots caused by the line.

As I mentioned in the thread earlier, we are showing up around 6 PM Friday night with our RV, dropping it off, getting "supplies" and then hanging out there until we pass out. Get up when the line moves and viola! In the lot.

5 am. or sometime very close. Even thought its the Iowa game, there wont be too many people waiting at before 5 am IMO.

Were gonna head up so we get there about 5:30 or 6 i think.

In 2003, the line for the lot went in to vet med and filled that lot. We got there around 4:50am.
