ISU unranked in AP poll

About the same with all knowing Rece Davis. Had us 14th last week, convincing win over AZ, drops us to 17th.

I might have done the opposite of that jumping us from 16/17 last week to 13/14 this week.

A really convincing win like our USD win but against a decent P4 team is what I was waiting for to feel better about ISU myself.

When SEC/big 10 does it, it means that team is good. When the big 12 does it, it means the team that lost is bad so the win isn’t impressive.
So true and Fox and ESPN keep pushing the narrative that their league teams are head and shoulders against both the ACC and B12. But we still have people thinking the B12 is going to get 2 teams into the playoff. Only way it happens if we have two undefeated teams meeting in the championship game and the other conference eat each other.

It’s going to get worse as we get deeper in conference play and teams like Ol Miss, LSU, Penn State and Alabama lose to middle of the pack teams and instead of punishing them they will reward their opponents and we see more 3-4 loss teams enter the rankings.

Alabama got ranked #11 in the final CFP poll last year. They were 9-3 and had recently gotten embarrassed by a 6-6 OU team who only won 2 conference games.

This is why I don't understand the support of the 5+11 CFP model by Big 12 fans. Makes no sense. All it's going to do is lock you in at 1 bid instead of 2.

We benefitted from this for a long time during basketball season.

This is why I kind of like the proposed 4 teams (Big 10/SEC)/3 teams (Big 12/ACC)/1 team (G5)/special ND invite/at large that was proposed. I mean, why should I listen to the argument "the Big 12 shouldn't want this because what happens when one year they're deserving of 4 teams..." but when is that ever going to happen when because of media biases we can't even get 2 teams even considered most years?

Ok, so are we back to only counting it as a ranked win if the opponent finishes ranked? I tried doing that and was told no, it's if they're ranked when you play, like ISU v. KSU this year. Because if it's if they're ranked when you play, they have a lot more than that.

PSU beat #2 tOSU in 2016, who finished #6.

EDIT*** - PSU also beat Wisconsin in 2016 who was ranked #6 at the time they played and finished #9.

EDITEDIT*** - PSU beat Washington in 2017 who was ranked #11 when they played and finished #16.

EDITEDITEDIT*** - Ooooops, saw the dude was referring to top-10 wins, disregard EDITEDIT***
Those wins were 9 years ago.
