ISU News and Tweets

Somewhat reluctant praise with plenty of backhanded compliments mixed in which is to be expected from the Gazette. It's more than they care to give ISU.

The Hok tears bleed thru trying to put on a brave face which is somewhat enjoyable.

Sorry if you had to listen to the beginning. I posted it on my way out the door to work. Was intending to put a timestamp on it.
That's OK. I'm a big boy. I'll try listening about 50% in. thanks for posting

It's kind of eerie how much a lot of TJ's mentality and coach-speak (for lack of a better term) mirrors Campbell's. Always focused on the habits and process, I really like that kind of thinking. The results will work themselves out if you do the little things and are constantly honing your process.
I think TJ is trying to become the best version of himself.

And TJ is aware that greatness comes to those who daily understand the ability to perfect themselves. :)

Finally, the most efficient shots Iowa State takes are off cuts to the rim. Miami is horrid when defending cuts to the basket (ShotQuality) — ranking 227th — so even if Iowa State misses 3s, it can find a way to manufacture points another way.

Now that is a game plan we can feast on.

Remember how many gimmes TH missed vs Wisconsin? I would bet some dollars that he doesn’t do that again tonight.

That was great. At the end one guy picked Gonzaga over Arizona in the championship. And the other guy pick Texas Tech to win at all.
This had to be a painful podcast for Hlas.
Had to laugh when Hlas acknowledged that "Iowa State has beat a lot of good teams.". And then as he started to name them, he didn't include the 20 point Iowa beatdown. Until Ford reminded him.
Thought Ford was fair in his assesment of all four teams.

While it may be true, I also found it funny that Hlas thinks Miami will be the best team Iowa State has played in the tournament. Not saying much for his Big10 champions who were playing on a home court.
This of course followed his earlier comment about about the Big10- "Ask any coach, it's the best league in the country."

Joe Fortenbaugh on ESPN ripping ISU: “ISU is a terrible free throw shooting team and a terrible 3 point shooting team. ISU commits a ton of turnovers and Miami doesn’t. We were very fortunate against LSU and WI, where both teams combined to shoot 6-41 from deep, that’s 14%. That’s not going to happen again. Miami is going to score, Miami is going to win.” ( not a direct quote)

Never heard of Joe Fartinbow.

I'm confused how when Campbell said something about it "not being a goal we set" but that we just try to be the best version of ourselves everyday everybody totally raked him over the coals. But when TJ says we aren't big into goals, we just try to be our best and remember our habits nobody is crucifying him.

It is the same philosophy.

I guess the difference is this year Campbell's team didn't meet everyone's expectations while TJ's exceeded them. I suppose in a year when TJ's team has high expectations piled on it and they come up short everyone will pile on.

I can't wait...

This is exactly correct. ISU football was highly ranked going into the season. Basketball was a national joke going into the season.

It may have been mentioned in another thread, as I haven't stayed caught up today, but did anyone else see the end of the TBS crew after the late game last night? Only LOCK they mentioned was... Miami. Can't say Scott Drew butted in to argue either. Then sports radio today really lauded the Miami coach and how his teams adjust and other coaches can't match it. Guess we really are the underdog. They made it sound alot more like an 11 against a 3 instead of an 11 vs. a 10. But that's okay.....there were some ugly games people know alot about. We have to play our 'A' game.
