ISU News and Tweets

Could be ISU fans hedging? If we win, fantastic. If we lose, hey, I made some scratch. Unless we lose by 1 then you are really ticked.

I always hedge. The bigger the game, the more I’m making if we lose. I’ll even hold out for an in game bet just to get the other team getting points. I hope a go broke!

I'm sure ther're nice people. I just couldn't get into listening to a pro-Iowa podcast. Were there any nuggets?
Actually, I've found both very objective and pretty well informed. Of course the first half was Iowa, but when into the Cyclones, they were pretty complimentary and statistically knowledgeable. Worth the listen and at worst after the 50% mark.

Somewhat reluctant praise with plenty of backhanded compliments mixed in which is to be expected from the Gazette. It's more than they care to give ISU.

The Hok tears bleed thru trying to put on a brave face which is somewhat enjoyable.

Sorry if you had to listen to the beginning. I posted it on my way out the door to work. Was intending to put a timestamp on it.

Finally, the most efficient shots Iowa State takes are off cuts to the rim. Miami is horrid when defending cuts to the basket (ShotQuality) — ranking 227th — so even if Iowa State misses 3s, it can find a way to manufacture points another way.

Now that is a game plan we can feast on.

I think ISU will score points. But I think Miami will score too, 3 good experienced guards who can all score, plus the big can get out and hit 3s. They aren't going to be held to 50 points.

My worry is in a very close game at the end, those experienced guards can get it done. We need to be good offensively: hit 3s at a good clip or just finish a bunch at the rim. I'd like to see Gabe making lay ups and not relying on him to be hotter than fish grease, like he was vs Bucky.

Side note - I hope that kid gets treatment from someone who really knows what they're doing. An injury like his (complete inversion of the ankle) back when I was 18 was what led in large part to the complete ankle replacement I had last December

I had the same type of injury at his age. took me well over a year to rehab and make hard turns again. I'm guessing he will have some sort of surgery to shore that ankle up for next season.
