Agree...that would be enough for me to stop being a Cyclone Football fan, I think.

Living in the Twin Cities and having to watch/ listen to Fleck...it would kill me to see him run our program. He's an arrogant, pretentious d-bag who is more about himself than his players. (His approach reminds me of Brian Kelly, honestly)
I would stop following ISU the second Fleck
became head coach!

Being projected as a mid-rounder isn't a guarantee of getting pickup either. Just look at Hakeem, he left early and isn't on a team. I have no idea what he is doing besides tweeting lol.
And Kene was projected as a mid or late rounder, based solely on his projectables.

How’d that work out for him?

Fleck is a terrible gameday coach. He can recruit, but cannot coach.

His size...he's perfect to play SDE for ISU.. He's more 6'3 and 275.. Highly doubt he plays inside.
I’d say Zach Petersen is the “perfect” size to play end. ;)

I kinda look at him as a dash of experience to go with the younger guys…except that he’s the same class as Blake Peterson and Corey Suttle, right? Well, at least he’s probably got more snaps from scrimmage than those two have at this point.

I’m gonna say a solid, seasoned rotation guy who fills a gap until Joey Petersen and Ikenna Ezeogu put on muscle.

That said, I’d be okay with being pleasantly surprised.

(seems to me we did okay with the last transfer from Minnesota who was a SDE in high school)

Other than Campbell wants him, what makes this guy a solid pickup?

I'm going to say based on Campbell's track record, thats all I need.

Also, we need at least 6 guys for the rotation on the defensive line based on what we have done defensively the last 4 years.

Singleton, Lee have starting experience at nose. Howard Brown and RS Freshman Tyler Onyedim will leave us strong at DT. Could be the programs 1st or 2nd best position (safety).

Blake Peterson and with the transfer, Anderson leave us 2 guys who have played. After that it's Cory Suttle (3 career tackles) and Johnny Wilson. Wilson has no college stats. So we NEED either another transfer or Zach Petersen to stay his extra year! Plus we need to keep R Mason committed

I fully expect Deyo to get snaps next year.

You missed Joey Petersen, whom the staff clearly likes just as much as his brother.

Word is he will play Offensive line at Iowa State
I read Deyo's comment as well that he's open to what gets him on the field sooner. After watching him in the dome. It seemed d was his best side. Especially if OU rolls out a 175# center.

This would be disappointing based on the film I've seen of him. Dude is a monster on both sides but defensively he stands out more IMO. But as always, we know the staff will do what's best.

Offensive line is such a program weakness though.. Defensive line has been REALLY good since CMC and Rasheed got here

Joey Petersen is 215 pounds. 60 pounds lighter than his older brother. He has two years of strength training before he's ready for Big 12 offensive lines
His brother reported at 220, played ST as a true freshman, and started almost the whole season as a sophomore after JaQuan was hurt.

Edit: I just don’t wasn’t to underestimate that Petersen hard work and determination.

He could be, if he returns, adds more weight, and gets more experience as an every down player. Or at least a second rounder. Better than. Where he’s projected now after his first season not just being a pass rushing specialist, and being somewhat injury plagued this year.

Sounds like the NFL projects McDonald as a 3-4 OLB. If Will came back, curious if the staff tries to continue to put bulk on McDonald or they go a different direction.

Prior to the 2019 season, the plan was playing McDonald at LB. As the 2019 season progressed, he become a full-time rush end. Would the staff experiment with McDonald at OLB again? In 2019 Rose, Vance and Hummel were all young LB's. In 2022 they will all be gone. Having Will McDonald play a DeMarcus Ware/Von Miller stand-up LB role would be a shift to make ISU's 3-3-5 more physical and aggressive in getting to opposing QB's.

If successful, it could also improve his draft stock.
