ISU Bowl Projection

Yeah, wasn’t one of those because of the Bowl, we played Memphis 3 times in a span of less than one year?

Also, what’s up with Memphis always being in that bowl? It’s their home field. Isn’t part of the draw of a bowl game for the players to kind of get a bit of a vacation, away from campus for a few days? You are on winter break, you’ve earned a bowl, congrats, you get to stay in your dorm room the whole time.

I think the organizers realize that no one actually wants to travel to the Independence Bowl.

honestly, I didn't mind the liberty bowl in 2017 (even accounting for a guy in our fraternity getting mugged in memphis after the game). I think the bowl would be a lot better if we actually got to play another power 4 team. Every time we got we play a G6 team.

I just think we have gone too much that people that would be willing to go are all memphis'd out.

Tulsa -- September 2012, December 2012, September 2013.

But that was a year where the CUSA Champ was tied in to the Liberty, and ISU ended up there as an at-large (again due to the SEC's lack of teams).

So it was 10-3 Tulsa against 6-6 ISU.

We finished around 8th in the conference. Second, the four game losing streak killed us. You lose two, win two, then lose two and it just looks bumpy and not a potential collapse. Lastly, we lost to freaking Colorado, so our image was tanked right then.
The 4 came losing streak probably doesn't affect things more than finishing the season on a 3 game winning streak.

We could just turn down a bowl game.
I don't know anything (I could just stop there...) but don't participating schools have to guarantee a certain number of tickets sold through their AD? If that number is very high we could end up holding the back for a couple thousand tickets. Assuming all the negativity towards Liberty/Memphis is truly fan-base wide.

Alamo Bowl is intriguing. It’s going to be between BYU, Houston, TCU, and Iowa State for that game. BYU played there last year. Do they take one of the Texas teams or do they go with ISU? If I had to guess, I would say they try to get TCU vs USC.

That puts BYU in the Pop Tarts bowl in Orlando assuming they aren’t in the CFP. Potentially they could have BYU vs Miami.

Then you have the Texas Bowl. The top candidates would be Houston, ISU, and Cincy. Would they take Houston to play at home? I could see them trying to get Houston vs Texas.

I think Cincy is in the Liberty Bowl unless the Texas Bowl takes ISU, in which case the Liberty would take Houston.

Then you have the Rate Bowl in Phoenix, and that’s where ISU goes if they’re still available. Probably Cincy or K-State if ISU is in the Texas Bowl and Houston is in the Liberty Bowl.

Whoever’s left between K-State and Cincy will go to the Independence Bowl.

Not sure how it will shake out for the former Pac-12 schools.
Mormons vs Convicts! I was around and clearly remember the original Catholics vs Convicts AND just watched the 30 for 30 on it yesterday.

Iowa State has played in twice the Liberty Bowls as Memphis. 4-2. We've played them every time they've been in it.
