ISU Bowl Projection

I'm so glad Memphis is getting more hate.....imo it's supremely overrated. Beale Street is the only redeeming quality and it's not enough for me to want to go back.

Memphis is a dump. The stadium is a dump and in a bad area. The weather whenever we're there is always bad.

I want the Rate Bowl in Phoenix. Would be nice for something new and we haven't been out west for a bowl since the Insight Bowl against Minnesota.

The date for the Rate Bowl is terrible and will hold a lot of people back from attending.

Zero chance of me going to a bowl game this year since I am going on vacation over the holidays already, but if ISU played Memphis in the Liberty again no one would go. I went last time and attendance at the last game sucked for both teams. I can't imagine what it would look like this year. I don't see how anyone involved in the decision making process would want that.

The drivability factor to Memphis does help though, especially for families. We took our kids 2 years ago and there were plenty of reasonable places to stay and you take costly flights out of the equation. With that being said, if the opponent is Memphis that is definitely going to hurt numbers.

If we could draw a SEC opponent and better weather I do think that would back off some of the hate for the Liberty bowl. We've really struck out in the weather department down there.
Maybe, but this would be minimal I think. There's way to much water under that bridge (right or wrong).

Alamo could end up with 2 big 12 teams again due to old pac12 tie in still being in play
Hoping the conference gets a boost in number of wins next since the non-con games and this bowl will be done with former p12 team match-ups.

These Big XII bowl ties are terrible. Even the PAC12 has better bowls and there are barely a conference.
I wave my wand and all bowl tie ins are erased

Big 12 can have first 5 picks at bowls after the “ny6” (playoffs)

Here are my 5

1. Vegas bowl

2. Alamo bowl

3. Holiday Bowl

4. Music city bowl

5. Pop tarts bowl

Pros and Cons with every bowl option here for Iowa State. I still don't think the Texas Bowl is completely off the table but probably unlikely. Memphis and Phoenix are the two. Memphis just happened two years ago and this would be the third trip to there in the Campbell era. I could see a lot of people driving but is there some Memphis fatigue there? As for Phoenix, it would be a breath of fresh air. Iowa State hasn't had a bowl game out west since 2009. Only issue with many would be it's the day after Christmas.

Texas Tech - Playoff
Utah - Alamo
BYU - Orlando
Houston - Texas
Cincy - Liberty
ISU - Phoenix

I have a hard time seeing the Texas Bowl not picking Houston. Honestly it's criminal that they might go 10-2 and be in that bowl. Realistically, it will come down to if we can get 2 teams in playoff as that moves everyone up.

Take Utah out. They're still considered part of the Pac-12 bowl pool for this year.

Even though the timing sucks, I’d still prefer Phoenix to Memphis, especially if the opponent is Memphis. If it’s an SEC team, I could probably be begrudgingly persuaded by Mrs. Farmer to go, especially since we have friends in Memphis- if it’s a true road game against Memphis in Memphis, I’m a hard no. I think there is a large portion of the fan base that thinks that way, and is ready for a change from Memphis for awhile.

why wouldn't one of the Arizona schools get picked for Phoenix? With that date you'd think you could pull more in state fans.

Holy War Part 2? BYU is a part of the Big 12 pool and Utah is a part of the Pac 12 pool.

Highly unlikely, but they would probably have to make a decision between having one of the two schools.

I’m out for a bowl this year no matter what. But after hearing CW ***** about Orlando, I’ll defend that destination. I went last year and was irritated when that was destination. But we had a surprisingly great time. We got tickets out of Cedar Rapids for $700 which isn’t crazy. We got 5 nights in the team hotel for an average of $250 per night which was a freaking steal. That hotel was resort like and frankly we didn’t want to leave it. (And we are planning a return this spring just for the hotel.). The game was fun and there were more fans than I expected.

Anyway, if you aren’t tied to doing the theme parks, Orlando doesn’t have to be crazy expensive.

Phoenix would be ideal for many reasons but if it happens to be Orlando, I’d recommend people consider it.
