ISU Bowl Projection

At this point I could care less about which bowl game we go to as long as we go to one. The extra practice time for the inexperienced players is far more important these days.

Bowl games don't matter unless they are the CFP ones. Look at how we beat Miami last year. They pulled Cam Ward, who was torching us, at the half and we scored with less than a minute left to steal the victory.
ISU's (arguably) best WR didn't play at all. So there is that.

I'm not sure this is that true anymore given how prevalent the player movement is. It doesn't hurt anything by any means, just not sure it has nearly the same benefit it had 10 years ago when you could count on a player being there 4-5 years.

You could make the argument that it would be better to miss the bowl game altogether to give the staff more time to recruit and crunch tape on potential transfers. Obviously nobody would want to lose the requisite amount of games required to miss a bowl game but as a thought exercise I think the coaching community would be pretty split.

And Rocco was touching them at half without his best receiver...

Oh if we do end up playing on Dec. 26 in Phoenix I have little doubt that there won't be many Cyclone fans there. Maybe just the ones that are already live there or because they go down there for the Winter.

Bowl games do nothing at all for the next year. Glorified scrimmages against other teams 2nd and 3rd string before and during the time thousands of players hit the transfer portal or graduate.

The Phoenix bowl would be tough. Not sure I want to go to a bowl game, but if I do, I'm hoping for Houston or Shreveport or another one in the 12/27 thru 12/31 time frame.

The Pac 12 bowl slate is interesting.

Every year that comes, the bowl games become more and more of a farce. Yes, I like tailgates, yes I like football, and yes I like doing them both in different destinations.

But damnit, I want to be overly excited about it. 7-5 ISU in phoenix vs Maryland. There's just not much excitement for that one, its akin to a home game vs. Arkansas state. Then you consider the time and effort$ required...
