ISU Bowl Projection

I think we are in that advantageous position that Iowa usually finds itself in. Early season ranking with a soft middle of the schedule. You win the games you should win, watch the teams in front of you drop and before you know it you can be Top 10 going into the meat of the schedule. From there-- who knows?

It is fun to think about somebody like Miami or Bama rolling into Jack Trice in late December.
If it does happen, I have a feeling they will do everything possible to put us in a slot where we dont host.

Say we could be 8 and host, or 9 and not, they will almost surely put us in 9, to avoid us hosting a game late like that. The only way we they dont try to do that is if we are looking at playing Iowa, or MN or something with as bad or worse weather than us.

This is the whole problem with hosting first rounds, the committee can fudge things to make their preferred hosting spots.

And we have swung back lol

LOL, not a swing, just truth.

Keep in mind i have been a skeptic of the playoff and how it will be managed from the beginning. I like the 12 team or actually probably 8 or 16 better, but I have always said the way it will be managed will suck, leaves too much to biases and the committee to manipulate it.

But really if you think ISU and say Oklahoma are sitting at 8-9 going into them choosing, who do you think gets the 8 spot and hosts? Even if ISU, is at 8 going in, they will come back with some fake data point to drop us to 9 or below so they can put the game in a warmer and probably larger environment.

If you dont think that is true, you are lying to yourself.

I mean I believe you were part of the crowd of zero chance the Big12 is ever getting two teams in and this scenario only happens in that case so we’re already making progress!

But yeah I can also see ISU getting the nod there. It’s legit impossible and pointless to make this type of projection based on anything other than feelings. Would need to see how the teams compare. But people and viewers like novelty, hosting a game in Ames would be excellent TV and a hell of a vibe.

No Never said "Zero chance"

I said rarely.

More likely to get 1 team than 2.

I think I said unless the format or the way it is picked etc the B12 has Zero chance to get more than 2.

Hope I am wrong.

Also apparently you didnt see the absolute disaster that was the Drake game a few years ago, that was almost a month earlier than a first round game will be, being December 1st.

There couldn't be more parity between the P4 conferences in terms of interconference records through Week 2. Filter for 2024 using this site to see what I mean. We need WVU to beat Pitt as that's the Big 12's only such game in Week 3.

LOT of season to go....obvioulsy voting wise the SEC will be up top...and when they lose to each other they will be "good" losses.

BUT, having said that...let's go get Ark State.....then the next...then the next....and get a Big 12 title.....THEN let's get a team here in Ames...in December....

All of you are over thinking this. Clearly ISU will be in the Natty title game. I don't know what bowl that is, but it will happen. Carry on.
