Not sure if anyone has started looking into this with no sports. Sunday NASCAR is going to be doing a race with current and former drivers that will be broadcast on FS1. I think this will be a really cool replacement for some form of sports.

I also find it fascinating from the standpoint that anyone of us could technically participate in it (while lower levels). I’ve been trying to look into what it would take to get started and frankly am finding it overwhelming. Has anyone else looked into iRacing.

I have played it a few times. Its awesome. The dirt late models is what I played. A ton of NASCAR guys have been playing online during this quarantine stuff too

They actually started last Sunday, although I think it was webcast-only. Dale Jr. was in it, along with some other drivers, race managers, engineers, and so on. What got me was how much it looked like a real race, it didn't look like a computer simulation at all.

Depends how deep you want to go. I mostly mess with racing on the PS4, Project cars and F1. I have the Thrustmaster T150, with upgraded pedals and I purchased a fold up racing seat from Playseat. It works fairly well for what I do. The seat is great, quite comfortable and supports my large 6' 2", 235 lbs. Frame quite well. The whole set up was less than $500.

When I was looking into it, iRacing seemed to need a little more of an investment to really compete. A lot of those people are spending thousands on their rigs. I did see where you could get in at a cheaper price, but their recommendation for a minimum wheel set up is the T300 with the pro pedals, that's around $400. Then depending on your PC set up the playseat I bought may work for you, but most prefer the more permanent set ups as they are stronger and can support the forces of the more expensive wheels better.

There is a ton on YouTube, Inside Sim Racing was a great resource for getting reviews, tips and tricks, as well as The Simpit.

The big problem with racing online is practice. Some of these racers are really freaking good, so it can get frustrating to try and keep up. Some are really bad or flat out ******** and can quickly ruin your day by playing demolition derby while you are trying g to race. When you find a good race though, it's really rewarding.

My issue is I don’t understand the IT stuff and internet stuff. I have a G920 already for some other stuff but I’ve never been a PC gamer because I don’t understand it.

Ok, sorry. Look up the iracing YouTube channel. They have tutorials on how to get started. It really doesn't seem that difficult to get connected. I think the cost comes in having to buy certain tracks, cars, etc.

You should buy the $100k rig setup. Go big or go home.
