Downey is an embarrassment to this university and wrestling in general.
I honestly have not spoken to him in several weeks. I'm not a fan of his social media ********. I know that he's a very good black jack player and does pretty well. As far as the other extra curricular activities, I hope they're not true. He knows what he needs to do to be ready. He's been at this since the age of 5. If he doesn't know what it takes by now, shame on him.
At least they're wrestling instead of drinking, smoking weed, and talking out of their ass like your sonThank God the rest of the team is saving face for the school and for wrestling. You would be lost without them.
Most of us want to be cheering for him.
I don't owe you or anyone else on this Forum a damn thing.Interesting. So you don't even know anymore than the rest of us about whether it is his ankle or whether he is rehabbing for March? I find that a little hard to believe, but then again, normal communication doesn't seem to be a family trait. I understand your vigorous defense of him, but think you would be helping him more by actually providing important missing information to help make sense of his claims and yours. Most of us want to be cheering for him.
Wow, you must be the most incredible fly on the wall that ever was. Let me guess, you voted for Pelosi and for Hillary. You're just another liberal blowhard. Just think, only 33 days left of this ********.At least they're wrestling instead of drinking, smoking weed, and talking out of their ass like your son
You would never know it.I want to cheer for all our wrestlers. PD2...please know that most on here want to see ISU wrestlers succeed, including your son.
I also want to be able to say that our program produces young men that are a class act. I want my kids to look at the ISU wrestlers as excellent role models. I want my kids to strive for greatness and do so by understanding the hard work ethic and humility required.

It's mostly hawk fans talking **** about your son and a handful of ISU fans. If you're going to let yourself think a small percentage of people on a message board represent the entire Iowa State wrestling fan base, you're bound to come away with a bad impression. We definitely have our holier than thou fans who seem to think student athletes should be held to a ridiculously high moral code and be perfect role models. I've known quite a few college athletes over the years and they're all average college kids who do stupid **** from time to time. As far as I'm concerned, Pat can talk all he wants on Twitter, play cards, drink, and smoke a J every now and then if he so chooses as long as he can go out and perform. If he's letting that other stuff get in the way of his success, he's letting himself down more than anything. You would never know it.
Hey PD2,
I voted for Hillary, and would have voted for Pelosi if I still lived in California. However, I don't believe somebody who doesn't agree with what your son might do has anything to do with whether or not they are liberal. I get offended that you equate people, who slam how proud you are of your son and how you defend him, with liberals.
I am a proud liberal.
I do not agree with how people attack you for standing up for your son.
It's your son!!! He is a returning All-American, who as far as I know, is still in good standing as a student-athlete and on track to graduate. He hasn't gotten in any trouble while wearing the Cardinal and Gold.
I also understand other people's frustrations with the position ISU wrestling is in, in part because of how your son has not competed. He is injured, but has such high potential that this season's end result could have been much different had he been in the lineup. It's like having a Ferrari in the garage but not being able to drive it because it has a flat tire (I wouldn't know but I could imagine it could be frustrating).
I hope your son comes back and does win him, and ISU, a championship. I support how you defend PD3. I just wish you wouldn't attack trolls with liberal insults.

Ah, but will any of them win a national title? That, butt head, is the million dollar question, big shot.At least they're wrestling instead of drinking, smoking weed, and talking out of their ass like your son

Believe me, even if my son wasted his time on the site, his wrestling would not be affected by my posts. As many of you have pointed out, he's way too busy on his own Twitter account. Regardless, thanks for the advice and support.Correct. You don't owe me anything. Never said you did. Regardless, I honestly think you are not helping your son with your posting. It seems that you got hooked by a Nebraska troll who got you to go negative. I agree with the others who have posted that we hope for the best for him and will be cheering for him. Wrestling is a game of strategy and we hope his strategy of prioritizing the NCAA's works for him.
