Iowa State vs. Oklahoma Post-Game Thread

Good bounce back win.

Was encouraged to see us respond after the timeout Prohm called down 14-7 early.

Outstanding second half. Adjusted to shut down their perimeter offense, fought for rebounds on both ends, stole the ball like we used to, and made shots. Back on the right track, and a lot to build on from tonight

This is a huge thing that I think we've been missing. We just weren't deflecting passes as much or being as active as earlier in the year.

I don't think people realize how big that actually is (Wigginton)

@Baylor he was 3-8 and 2-5 from three - Loss
KSU he was 2 for 8 and 1-3 from three an 1-4 from the line - Loss
@KU he was 1 for 8 and 1-5 from three and 0-2 from the line - Loss
TCU he was 2 for 9 and 2-5 from three - Loss
Baylor he was 2 for 9 and 1-6 from three - Loss
at TCU he was 6 for 14 but 1-5 from three - Loss

Basically when he's off and still shooting, that spells trouble for us. 16 for 57 (28% from the field) and 8 for 29 from three (27%) in our league losses.
Not really numbers that will attract NBA scouts....o_O

Really nice second half effort by the guys. I thought THT played within himself for the most part. An aggressive Shayok is what we need the rest of the year. And how about that defensive performance?

Great win. Glad to see how well they did limiting dribble penetration.

But those announcers? Dear lord...unless your name is Bill Walton talk about the game.

I know the first half wasn't great, but I thought it was significantly different than the first halves against TCU, Baylor, and TCU. Our defense wasn't great in the first half, but Oklahoma made some contested shots. When Oklahoma went on some runs, we didn't let them turn into terrible runs. Nick's 8 rebounds were huge. Everyone was diving on the floor and attempting to get rebounds. Lindell played well and had a nose for the ball.

We played pretty well, but Oklahoma? Woof.
We played well enough.....against a dog in the Big 12.OU isn't a good test....But, all things considered, did i expect our team to be as good as they are this year? No. So... I am happy where we are but a bit disappointed we didn't capitalize on the regular season.

Ehhh.....obviously you should beat Oklahoma at home. It would have been a significantly worse home loss than TCU or Baylor (and those were bad). But they had won two straight. They are sort of still in the mix for the NCAA. They have a very good coach.

I thought this was really positive:

“Shayok texted Prohm before the game letting him know he was prepared to do whatever it takes to win from here on out.”

''I just wanted to make sure I have no regrets leaving Iowa State. I'm going to leave it all out there for sure,'' Shayok said.

You beat me to it by about 5 minutes. :)

OU is by no means a world beater, but after we've been in a slump I was going to be happy with just about any win. We came out in the second half (granted shooting well from 3 helps), but played well especially on the defensive end and closed out an inferior opponent. Workmanlike effort from our guys, time to prep for a tough Texas team!

It's called coincidence. Why not do the same analysis with our wins and see where Wiggs sat. Also , you could look at the same losses and do the same math for a few other players.

Is it Einstein? In the league wins:

36-70 (51%) and 21-46 (45%)
