Iowa State and NCAA Path (Potential)

Yes, and those tickets will be gobbled up by ISU fans. There won't be an empty seat in Wells Fargo. What ISU basketball fan wouldn't try to get into those games? (except for maybe the basketball arena snobs on this board) The NCAA knows this.

I'd think NCAA games would be an exception.

I agree with your first point - but not your second... first go around with KU Kentucky and Indiana - tickets were 4-5x face value with no Iowa or ISU. Largely depends who else is there - but DSM doesn't need ISU to be there... athough it certainly helps.

As someone who already purchased tickets and will have to sell Saturday's tickets even if ISU makes there, it I like that a lot. I have a wedding to go to that Saturday but it is in a casino so it sounds like I will at least have some cash for that.

It tells me a college market town like Des Moines is excited to host the tournament again and the community has really embraced it. This doesn't make The Well a better venue, the seats are still ****. Honestly, if Iowa State isn't selected to play in DSM, the scalpers won't be able to give tickets away for the first round sessions.

Lol, so you think the demand is all dependent on ISU being selected there huh? Did you go last time, they didnt seem to have any issues filling the place then. I got my tickets last March like alot of other people.

It's the first site sold out so far so your statement makes no sense. We are months away from knowing who will even be selected there, this tells me that there is high demand regardless of who's playing.

I can tell you personally that I'm extremely excited for it regardless of whether Iowa State is there or not. If Iowa State did get selected to play here it would be the icing on the cake for me.

Actually, not only does it speak for itself, but it would have been even better if not
made at all. But then that notion nears tautological proportions when applied to your utterances, Sir.

Well, I said it so deal with it, I stand by what I said. Des Moines is the first and only site out of 8 sold out so far. Hows that?

Yes, I went to all of the sessions last time. My buddy and I tried selling session 1 because we were going to hang out on Court ave and watch the Iowa State game. You literally couldn't give the tickets away. The scalpers stopped buying tickets on the street by 8:00... The second round was a HOT ticket but I never mentioned the second round in my previous post. Session 1 and 2 were selling below face value on the streets.

I don't think you understand how few of the tickets actually get sold to the general public.... A ton of the "sold" tickets are already posted on the secondary markets...

Session 1 was between two teams that brought a total of 100 fans and Kansas playing some scrub team, not surprising it wasnt a hot ticket.

There was no secondary market for session 2 either... The scalpers/secondary market made their money back on Saturday.

Sorry, I misread your statement, Iowa State being selected there would obviously have a huge affect on the secondary market, I completely agree with you. My point is that ticket sales have obviously been fine so far regardless of whether ISU is playing there or not.

@BillBrasky4Cy

Whats your explanation on why Des Moines is the only site sold out so far?

I think Iowa State fans bought a good chunk of the general public tickets hoping the Clones would be placed here. Again, we aren't talking about a ton of tickets the general public can get their hands on.

IMO it was because both ISU and iowa fans thought that they had a team that could be there. The second the brackets come out and one of those two (or both) aren't playing there, tickets will open up on the secondary market.

With most of them being to 3rd party sites or resellers, guaranteed. Plenty of opportunity for Cyclone fans to pick them up.

Absolutely, but the NCAA isn't going to put ISU in Des Moines just to try and sell tickets.

Wasn't saying that. Was just saying that I doubt that currently many of the "sold out" tickets are in the hands of people actually going to the sessions.
