***Iowa postgame thread***

We don't necessarily need to play top teams, it's more about playing teams in the 100-200 range rather than teams that are 300+ in the RPI year in and year out. Play MVC or MAC or Horizon league teams instead of MEAC and SWAC teams.
I completely agree. This is the reason I wish the Big 4 Classic would go away. Playing @ UNI every other year is a really good learning experience for the team. The fact that last nights game was our first true road game is just bad but like I mentioned in a previous post, there is a reason why this years schedule is so soft.

I don't know if the team's issues are more on coaching or players not doing what they're supposed to. Likely a bit of both.

But the offense is a train wreck. We clearly don't have he personnel for 'ISO/ just let players create' to work. I know post offense is subpar, but how many times a game does a post get fed the ball? Twice?

How does a team starting 3 Sr guards and a SR wing keep crossing half court and picking up the dribble against pressure and getting trapped??

Naz seems like a great guy and brings a lot of intangibles, but if he's not making shots he's like Fr/So Matt Thomas; just doesn't provide enough else.

Don't get the knocking on Burton and Thomas though. It'd be nice if Burton were scoring more regularly, but they're both basically doing what we need them to.

I hope we win the Big 12 tournament.

Another reason why I can't wait to be rid of Pollard maybe we can get an AD that is more serious about winning in the real sports rather than the final standings of the Leerfield Director's Cup.
Get rid of Pollard? The influx of money and fan support that has come to Iowa State under his watch will keep him here for a very long time.

I will get blasted for this post but, I'm not going to blame Prohm for this and I am certainly not going to call out individual players. We have a Team problem. It's on the players but, it's on them as a whole. It's time for this team to fully "buy in" to coach Prohm and his system!! No more "street ball offence" and half-hearted commitment to defence. When this tem plays Prohm ball, they are a good (not great) team, when they play player ball (hero ball) they are not good at all.. Time to have a great 3-4 months of basketball!!

With that said Prohm can make some changes to help things along, Start NWB and play Young and Jackson more. Our best run came with the bench guys in, Hands down
If this is true then that makes two years his team didn't buy in to him until the middle of the season. Not sure what it means but that isn't exactly a good trend.

Who cares? I'm sure they want to do a lot of things differently and better. The fact is we are playing slow. Our true shooting % is 205th in the country. It is slightly worse than McD's 2010 team. This is absolutely ugly offense on par or worse than McD era ball and we're still playing by far the softest part of the schedule. Stats don't lie.

Ugly in terms of execution or ugly in terms of results?

I see lots of good looks both inside and outside, but I also see guys right now that could not beat you or I in a game of Horse and are putting up bricks.

Mcdermotts 2010 pace numbers are skewed because they were playing faster pace at the start of the year. What were they in say 08 and 09?

True. McD's last year we had 70.6 possessions per game. This year we are at 69.7, so we are playing slower.

McD's last year we shot 47.5% from 2 and 37% from 3. This year we're shooting 51% from 2 and 34% from three. So in some ways it's worse and some ways it's better.

Agree, although they were playing much more inspired defense than under CFH. This team is not a Hoiball team, but it also is too limited to be anything but that.

I don't want to be overly critical of the seniors, but they need to realize what they are in terms of basketball talent. There is no Kane, Ejim, or Georges to do the heavy lifting. We only win against P5 teams with pace, passing, and effort, and the occasional Burton takeover.

MM's quotes are horrible for a senior that just got punked by Bohannon.

How did Monte get punked by Bohannon? Bohannon looked terrible last night and Moss guarded Monte

I disagree. I see a lot of contested shots and few good looks.

I agree with you that's it's concerning that CSP hasn't been able to get the guys to buy in. I will however say that most of these guys are still Fred's guys so let's see how he stocks the roster next year and if he can get that team to buy in...That's when we find out if we have a problem or not IMHO

I don't think we will truly know if they have improved until they play Tech. The remaining non con games are garbage.

Thankful for our schedule. Adding several games against good teams, likely on the road or neutral sites, would have been a disaster.

Our schedule isn't helping us in the slightest this year, unless you like just racking up meaningless wins that actually hurt our RPI.
